This trip was one of the most memorable adventures of our New England family vacation. The crew was very knowledgable about the history of the area, lobsters and fishing in general so our kids learned a lot in addition to having a great time. They made every effort to make sure that our kids really enjoyed the trip and even... More

My husband called on a Sunday afternoon and got a call back within hours for a spot on the boat the next day at the time we wanted (a surprise in mid-July) for us and three of our children (4, 4, and 7 years old). There was room for our youngest, but we were glad we left him with his... More

Full disclosure, I did not take Captain Jack's tour, and cannot comment on the lobstering experience. However, my friend and I encountered him at sea, and the experience prompted me to add this note. On July 14 we were 6 days and about 110 nautical miles into a sea kayak expedition from Portland up the coast of Maine. We are... More

I called on Thursday evening to hopefully get a trip the next morning. I immediately got a call back and made plans for 9:00 the next morning. We showed up 15 minutes early and Steve and his mate were at the boat and ready to go. My wife and I had a great time! I really wasn't expecting much as... More

The trip out with Steve was the highlight of our Maine vacation. I am contemplating going again before leaving. Fred and Steve could answer all of a million questions. They are funny, knowledgeable, and engaging. Even our surly 15 year old had a great time. I strongly encourage you to make the tour.

My husband and I went out with Captain Steve (the business is names after his grandson) again because we loved our first visit 6 years ago. He is a genuine lobsterman. He can be a bit crusty, but we love him. He calls it like he sees it, and he just wants to share his love of the water with... More

Hubby and I flew out to Maine for a long weekend get-away - crammed lots of things in over the 5 days we were there - but by far the best tour ever was our lobster boat adventure with Steve Hale (Captain Jack) and first mate Fred. Folks - this is a real lobster boat experience. If you are looking... More

We arrived in time for a 10:30 tour as we were not able to reach the captain by phone. The boat was not at the dock. There were others waiting as well and they stated they arrived five minutes before us and never saw the boat either. We then waited for the next scheduled departure time and the boat never... More

This is a working lobster boat. Room for only 6 people. We learned so much about the lobster industry. Never really knew what was involved in traping lobster. Learned not only about the lobsters but also what it takes to get a lobster license.Wonderful experience!

We took our family of 4 to Boston for a vacation this past July. The plan was to drive up to Maine and spend one night and go on a lobster boat tour the next morning. Our two boys (11 and 13) were very excited to be able to check the traps and see what it is like to be... More
