We found ourselves here based on as recommendation from our hotel. On our last day in town (we came to go snowboarding/snowmobiling), we realized we didn't pick up an ornament for our Xmas tree. It's a tradition of ours to get an ornament for our tree each time we go on vacation. This store had beautiful fish flies and fishing supplies. Even though we didn't fish, we decided to pick up their custom made Rangeley grey ghost fly for our tree. I'll need to place it into one of those clear ornament balls to keep it safe. They actually sell them prefilled with other fishing flies inside, but I really liked the ones that represented Rangeley. It was an inexpensive souvenir, but so beautifully made. And the staff was very friendly to chat with while we were there under unusual circumstances (looking for an ornament). Definitely check it out if you are in the area.

My wife Nancy was taking the fly fishing school at Tim Pond and the owner and staff were very helpful in setting us up for our trip. Highly Recommend them for your fishing needs.

This is a great little local owned friendly shop, we had a very informative unrushed time here,
The local no how were to etc is great,
The selection to choose from vast for a small shop ,a much better experience than the large multi franchise shops.
Will call in again .

My husband and I stopped here for the first time several years ago before I even started to fish. Brett and Sue had the answers for him and encouraged me to give it a try. They are helpful and experienced and able to steer you to the right equipment and the flies you need to fish the area. On one trip we hired Brett to guide us for a half day and give me some instruction, his help has been valuable, and I am now able to go out and enjoy fishing when in the area. They always have great tips and news on the fishing in the area as well as a good blog to keep you up to date. Well selected equipment make this well worth the stop for any sports man or sports woman.

This shop has been around since 1947 (previously Fletchers Fly Shop) and boasts being one of the oldest continually operating fishing store in ME. Brett and Sue Damm are the current proprietors and seem to thoroughly enjoy providing the sportsman with the latest information and a fish story here and there.

I booked Brett for a half day fly fishing wading trip and he put me on a number of good fish, showed me some places I went back to - and wasn't shy about changing my fly if nothing was happening. He's a lifelong ME-er and began fishing the area with his dad.

Give him a call - you'll enjoy the time spent.
