Went to a Reggae concert here and wasn't impressed with the staff, many seemed clueless about what they were supposed to be doing. Rude, unapproachable, and unorganized to boot. Waited in line so long we missed the entire first band, entry was chaotic. Location is great but the staff needs serious training, not sure I would go back.

We have come down from Bangor to enjoy two shows this year and the venue is very comfortable with great acoustics.

Traveled from Buffalo NY to Maine State Pier for a concert. Such a unique venue. Gorgeous location. The VIP feature was awesome ...backstage access, VIP bar/restroom area..and seating...

Very well organized and staffed. Heavy security presence. Felt very safe and protected.

First experience at the Pier venue.
Aug 2018 • Friends
The music was good and the set up was pretty good with food vendors and alcohol vendors along with your typical band tshirts and such. We went to see three bands playing to together on tour. The only downfall is that the whole venue is general admission with no seats so you stand for the entire show and people are quite pushy and can get a little wild. The open drug use is also a bit appalling especially since once everyone is in the venue it is not monitored. Other than that it was a fun experience. I am not sure I would choose it again for a concert but fun all the same.

Beautiful Venue, Incompetent Security
Jul 2018 • Couples
Great intimate place to see a show outdoors, but security has to get their act together. The line barely moves, security personnel WAY understaffed, no express line for those without bags. Caused us to miss opening bands...very disappointing. If you want to see your concert, be prepared to line up an hour before the gates open...

The past couple years they have been attracting concerts and shows at this outdoor venue. Nice during the day to visit or attend a show at night.

Hot 104.7 Concert featuring Dillon Francis, Blackbear, Dej Loaf, etc.
Aug 2017 • Friends
I came here for the Hot 104.7 end of summer concert and it was a great experience. I got to the venue about halfway through the second opening artist (Sammy Adams, right before Dej Loaf) and it was not too difficult to get to the front row. They do a great job of cleaning up the venue after each concert and the sound system was setup great as well. The lifting was super neat and went along well with the performances. There were no technical errors while anyone was performing. I'd definitely suggest cominherenfor any summer concert!

Main departure point for Casco Bay Cruises. CLEAN restrooms behind the ticket counter for Casco Bay Cruises which is all I cared about. Hard to find in Portland.

A Public Pier Without a Peer in Portland
Aug 2016 • Couples
This public pier covered seven acres (2.83 ha) on Portland’s waterfront. It was built during 1921-1923. At the Pier’s foot, Portland Harbor was 35 feet (10.7 m) deep at mean low water. The Pier itself was about 1,000 feet (304.8 m) long and about 150 feet (45.7 m) wide. The bustle of the CBL Ferry Terminal and its several ferries occupied much of its western surface. The 950-foot (289.6 m) long and 25-foot (7.6 m) high, westward-facing, and much-faded brilliance of the Wyland whale mural (1993) spanned a wall along its eastern side. At the foot of the Pier was a seasonal outdoor stage that hosted music events throughout the tourist season. A City of Portland fireboat was tied up at its head. We most liked the Pier’s renovated ferry terminal (2015). We least liked the lack of space for ferry traffic and other maritime uses due to much of the Pier having become a concert venue.

Extremely busy during Summer
Sep 2016 • Couples
The Maine State Pier area on Commercial Street offers a variety of dining options. Local vendors sell items or make reservations for excursions on the water. Parking in the area is on the street and practically non-existent from mid-morning to mid-afternoon.
