We recently took our second guided tour with Maine Day Trip Tours. Norm was our tour guide extraordinaire. He picked us up right on time in Portland and drove us to Camden. Norm pointed out the wonderful scenic spots and joined us for a delightful lunch. One of the highlights of our trip was visiting Mt. Battie where at every turn there are breathtaking views. On our way back to Portland, we toured the Farnsworth Museum with Norm. He provided us with insightful commentary about the paintings, especially the Andrew Wyeth masterpieces. If you are looking for the best and friendliest guide in Maine, ask for Norm at Maine Day Trip Tours.

Steven Grasso from North American Traveler lined us up with Don Comeau and Pam Goode from Maine Day Trip Tours and they were great. Along with being knowledgeable about everything Maine, they were also great drivers. They were able to answer all of our questions and got us up close to view the sites. Much closer than the tour buses were able to. Between the two, we saw most of the coast of Maine.

We had a great day in Portland and Kennebunk(port) with Leigh. We saw some beautiful sites, learned about Portland's history, and got some great meal recommendations. Leigh was prompt, very friendly, and allowed us to set the pace of the day - we never felt rushed or like we were taking too long at one spot. Norm was also great to work with in planning our trip. We were super impressed with Portland and lucky enough to be there on a beautiful day. Thank you again for the hospitality!

We had a 6 hr tour from Portland. Set up by Northern American traveler Steven Grasso.
Our driver Bruce, and tour guide Don, were the best. Very knowledgeable, friendly, accommodating us. We were on the Oceania fall color cruise. But we took our own private excursion at this port. It was terrific. We stopped for photos, as needed. We stopped at a historic cemetery. We had lobster rolls at the Boathouse. Very scenic and very informative. There were 6 of us. It was very comfortable in the van.
I highly recommend them for a day tour.

Our group of 5 cruisers, 2 couples, and a single lady are all 60ish and we had an incredible day with Pam. She was so easy to spend the day with, pleasant personality, knowledgeable of the area and just generally fun to tour with. I really can't recommend her highly enough.
Pam met us as soon as we were off the ship, and we began touring Portland immediately. We then moved on to Kennebunkport for touring and lunch.
She was patient with all our questions and flexible if we wanted to make adjustments to our tour.

So the wife and I decided in the heat of August in Florida that Maine at Christmas sure seemed like a swell idea. It won’t be that cold. And better yet, how about an all-day sightseeing tour the day after Christmas? Einstein was blushing. As he should have been, after the amazing experience we had with Maine Day Trip tours wonderfully led by Norm, the owner and our guide for the day.
After picking us up at our hotel a little before 9, Norm filled the next six and a half hours with spectacular sights of lighthouses and more all along the coast, as well as nuggets of history and factoids my wife and I ate up like Maine pigs to whoopie pies. He was warm and friendly and perfectly timed the visits to the various sights to get the best views.
When we first got in his van, I quipped that he probably didn’t get a whole lot of folks wanting a Maine tour in the dead of winter. He said it wasn’t common, but my wife and I are glad we made the uncommon decision to spend the day with Norm and all the beauty Maine has to offer. Cheers, Norm.

Leigh picked us up at the cruise port and started off by taking our group of 8 on a drive through Portland. We stopped in South Portland to learn about Liberty Ships, and in Cape Elizabeth to see the lighthouse. It was a picture perfect day for a ride down to Kennebunk and Kennebunkport. We stopped at St. Anne's Episcopal Church and viewed the Walker homes out on Walker Point from a distance. We stopped in Kennebunk for a lobster roll lunch from The Clam Shack and a little shopping. Our final stop was Goose Rocks Beach along Kings Highway to check out how cold the water was and walk on the white sand beach. Great day! Leigh was a good tour guide and we had another woman driving the bus. Would heartily recommend this tour company!

Leigh was early to pick us up at the port for a fun day sightseeing in Portland and Kennebunkport. She entertained the 3 couples with her knowledge of the area. The food truck at the lighthouse had tasty lobster rolls. The chowder and home-made blueberry pie at the beach cafe was enjoyed by all. More time was definitely needed on this tour. Request Leigh when you book with Norman. Leigh did not rush us when we were walking around.

Every time I travel to a new place I schedule a private tour so that I can get an "inside" look at my new destination. The day that we spent with Leigh was one of the best experiences ever. We have had private tours from coast to coast and Leigh is absolutely one of the most welcoming, thoughtful and insight guides ever. Actually she isn't just a guide, we feel like we made a friend in Leigh. There were three of us ladies and all of us on our first trip to New England. When Leigh picked us up at our hotel we first plotted out what we wanted to experience. Leigh took us in her minivan around Portland and shared history and plans the city has for future growth. We wanted to do a little shipping so we headed out to LL Bean and the surrounding shops. We were headed to Cape Elizabeth but we wanted hot chocolate and tea so Leigh was nice enough to take us to a lovely café that is in her town. Everything was yummy and the perfect place to grab a warm drink. We then headed to Cape Elizabeth and toured a few light houses and then grabbed a lobster roll and the best strawberry rhubarb pie at The Lobster Shack. We made additional stops here and there and even left with recommendation on additional stops since we were leaving for Boston right after the tour. On Leighs recommendation we stopped in Kennebunkport and we fell in love with Dannah's on Ocean Avenue not to mention the amazing views off look out point. We also enjoyed Leigh's recommendations in Ogunquit as we enjoyed our walk along the Marginal Way and the shops at the end of our walk. We would not have had these experiences and found these gems if it weren't for Leigh. Thank you!! we will be back!!

A 3-day private tour of coastal Maine with NORM!! He knows all the usual places and told us great stories about the history, but the best part was all the "out of the way" places only locals know about. We had the best meals - from nice restaurants to diners.. (lobster rolls and blueberry pie to die for) and we could stop along the way to shop or get coffee - totally on our schedule. This was a real MAINE EXPERIENCE and just what we were looking for. Call Norm - he's the way to go! His prices are extremely reasonable and because he really cared about making the trip special, we had a great time. Thanks, Norm! We'll be back!

Once you arrive in Maine there are sand beaches and Nubble Lighthouse in York. Continue north to Ogunquit and stop at Perkins Cove for local shops and a beautiful mile long cliff walk called Marginal Way. Then drive up to Kennebunkport for more interesting views, shops and restaurants. Portland is an hour north of Kennebunkport. Stay in the Old Port area for awesome restaurants and many things to do. Enjoy your time in Maine.
