We went to the farmers market and found the park transformed from late spring and a long winter. The trees and shrubbery were beautiful, the pool was full of kiddies, the pond was full of ducks, and the pedestrian bridge over the pond and all the trails were inviting. We thought it would look even better with more flowers, but it's still a very nice oasis in the middle of asphalt.

I was really impressed by this beautiful and fun park not far from downtown Portland. Not only do they have the farmers market there on Saturdays but they also have a gorgeous lake, shady vistas, tons of sports fields and tennis courts, but they also have an epic playground for the kids.

I loved walking through here on Saturday during the farmers market. The blueberries were delicious and so was the ambiance. The little play area for kids was also adorable. I'm very glad we went.

I had seen this park in passing many times when in Portland year after year for a family Bible convention just a few blocks over at the Civic Center. While visiting our wee little grandchildren in South Portland, we decided to take them to Deering Oaks park for a romp on a spring day in April. This is a very large park with several parking areas and a pretty awesome playground area with tons of things to climb on, slide down or swing on and lots of room to run and play. We had 2 six year olds and a 1 1/2 year old and they played to their hearts content for 3 hours before hubby and I finally insisted we needed to got get lunch somewhere. It was spring break for schools in Maine so as the morning progressed more and more families arrived to let their kids play, but it never really felt crowded because their was so much equipment to play on. Would love to come again in summer when the grassy areas are not so mucky and wet so we can enjoy the water park on the other side of the park with all the sprinklers and a wading area.
