After a sumptuous meal, we walked around the corner to the Portland Stage theatre to see their presentation of "Arsenic and Old Lace" by Kesselring. What a lovely little venue to see a live show in. Small, with maybe 200 seats (max?), and it looked as though there wasn't a bad view in the place (we were 2nd row, stage... More

Saw their annual Christmas Carol production. This is a local theatre with great professional actors. Not the big broadway productions, but you will not feel any way less then in the theatre. There are purchase of drinks and snacks outside the theatre at very reasonable prices, however note you can not bring the food and drinks to your seat. You... More

Bought tickets kind of last minute (3 days earlier) for a Dec 23 performance. Almost sold out - only 4 singles left so we couldn't sit together and ended up on outer ends of rows, by the wall, but it turned out fine. The seating is sloped enough that all seats has good visibility to stage. Lots of energy and... More

Though I reviewed Portland Stage in 2015, my experiences at the matinee of "The Irish...and How They Got That Way" provided some new insights I thought I'd share. The show was delightful and the audience of mostly 60-somethings was truly appreciative. I think it useful to advise that the stairs up to the theater can be challenging for anyone with... More

Portland Stage Company presented The Irish and How They Got That Way as a co-production with Maine State Music Theatre. This was the first time I was in their theater. You can walk up stairs or take an elevator to a lobby that has a great concession stand selling huge cookies, truffles, tea, coffee, wine, beer, and soft drinks. So... More

The Portland Stage is a theater troupe located in a small theater a little off of Congress Street. My wife, daughter, her boyfriend and I all enjoyed this recent production. The actors didn't miss a beat in this fast moving political comedy, and everyone in the theater laughed a lot. The theater is intimate, and the sound system works well,... More

We have visited Portland Stage several times and each time we have enjoyed really good theatre productions. Recently we saw "My Name Is Asher Lev" and this was one of the best plays ever! We had excellent third row seats but, as many have stated, most of the seats are terrific...and the place was filled. The seats are comfortable w/plenty... More

The stadium style seating at the Portland Stage was excellent so that every seat provided an excellent view. The lobby area provided beer, wine and light snacks. "The Mountain Top" was very entertaining and enjoyed thoroughly by my wife and I...A very nice experience!
