The Portland Stage is a theater troupe located in a small theater a little off of Congress Street. My wife, daughter, her boyfriend and I all enjoyed this recent production. The actors didn't miss a beat in this fast moving political comedy, and everyone in the theater laughed a lot. The theater is intimate, and the sound system works well,... More

We have visited Portland Stage several times and each time we have enjoyed really good theatre productions. Recently we saw "My Name Is Asher Lev" and this was one of the best plays ever! We had excellent third row seats but, as many have stated, most of the seats are terrific...and the place was filled. The seats are comfortable w/plenty... More

The stadium style seating at the Portland Stage was excellent so that every seat provided an excellent view. The lobby area provided beer, wine and light snacks. "The Mountain Top" was very entertaining and enjoyed thoroughly by my wife and I...A very nice experience!

This is our second visit to Portland Stage as a group on a girls' weekend and once again we were impressed with the quality of the performance and the comforts of the theater. We are looking forward to many more visits!

Great play, great acting, great theater ... this was a wonderful part of our Portland adventure. Book tickets before you travel because the theater often has SRO

The stadium style seating at the Portland Stage appeals to me ensuring every seat provides an excellent view. The lobby area provides coffee, tea, wine and light snacks. Yesterday's "Dancing at Lughnasa" was outstanding: Staging was spare but appropriate; Tod Randolph as Maggie and Tony Reilly provided strong and credible performances; Emma O'Donnell's tabletop dancing was delightful; the energy created... I came here recently, having been many times before, with a friend on "Pay What You Can" night to see "The Papermaker," by local playwright Monica Wood. The theater was packed, and there's really not a bad seat in the house. This is professional theater, with the kind of quality lighting, staging, technicals and directing you would expect. "The Papermaker"... More

"Papermaker" runs through May 24, 2015. It is a breathtaking show. You laugh you cry. You connect with the characters and feel like you have lost a friend when it ends. If you enjoyed reading "Ernie's Ark" you will enjoy this play as well. The theatre is small and intimate a perfect community theatre.
