**VICTORIA MANSION WILL REOPEN FOR THE SEASON MAY 1, 2017 AT 10AM**

Victoria Mansion, also known as the Morse-Libby House, is the finest example of residential design from the pre-Civil War era in America. With superb architecture and well-preserved original interiors that were among the most lavish and sophisticated in their day, it is an unparalleled document of America’s highest aspirations in architecture, interior design, and the decorative arts. Our history, a quick tour, and our present-day efforts at restoring the Mansion convey an impression of the significance of this unique site, which is of national and even international importance.

We really enjoyed the Victoria Mansion. The story of the house and the unusual family who built it is very well-explained in the tour. The place is beautifully restored and every room bursts with fascinating detail. I would probably not advise going with small children who may be bored or tempted to touch things, but certainly a must for everybody... More

This is an incredible mansion tour of an "American Treasure" and historic landmark in Portland, Maine. I'm generally not enthusiastic about mansion tours, but this mansion combined with knowledgeable and expert guide, was a memorable and fascinating experience. This is also known as the Morse Libby Mansion that was built between 1858 and 1860 as an Italian villa style. It... More

The tour of this well preserved bit of Portland is short but informative. The docents are passionate about the Mansion and its history, thank you!

I had wanted to visit here for a long time and was disappointed after. We opted to take the self guided tour, there was a person from the mansion to answer and questions located almost every room. Trying to find parking was frustration and the house was small and very crowded. It was a beautiful house though.

Nice place for a short visit, if you like seeing gracious old mansions. Docent guide was knowledgeable and helpful. It's located a relatively short walk from the center of town.

Attended the hour long tour for the Victoria mansion. It was $30 for two, but the groups are small and the guides are good. Excellent walk though history of an old house with original furnishings. Great story and is informative for all ages to see how life was 150 years ago. Only downside is no photos inside. Could be very... More

I went to the Victoria Mansion on Sunday before Labor Day and spent 1 hour there. We buy tickets with an enthusiastic tour guide who introduced the history, architecture of the house, and decorations of each room. As far as I concern, the furniture and decoration inside the house has remained 95% of the original one. If you go there,... More

This looks great in the brochure. Unfortunately they keep the shutters mostly closed to protect the artwork so it is very dark and gloomy. There is no A/C which was a problem in August.

Friends had suggested we stop by here while in town. Beautiful and very interesting in giving an historical reference on how the "other half" lived. Really enjoyed the experience and the guide was quite knowledgeable about the historic period.
