Greetings from the Old Port! First, thanks to all of you folks who are sharing your tour experiences when questions are asked! We appreciate it! To answer your question, as Cindy mentioned, most of the locations we partner with are small, and we have a set number of guests because of this to keep the tours comfortable for our guests and the locations themselves, as well as manageable for the guides. If you're considering buying tickets for your children, we would say to just consider that our tours are between 2 and 3 hours with anywhere from a half a mile to a mile and a half of walking. The "menu" has been created with adults in mind, although we have absolutely found many instances where kids have joined and had a great time tasting their way around town as well! Just some food for thought and thanks for your question!

It's really about what kind of experience you're looking for. The Happy Lobster Traps & Apps is very hands-on, and offers some great local flavor with an interesting lobster education on an authentic lobster boat. The Lobster Lunch Crawl is a great one for a more classic/with a modern twist tour. If you enjoy arts and culture, the Culinary Palette Tour is only about 20% culinary and 80% of the arts and culture, but introduces you to a locals experience in an entirely different way. The Food Sherpa Tour is the most eclectic, as it's very off the cuff, as opposed to the more structured stops of our regular tours. Feel free to give us a call if you have more questions.

We can easily accommodate gluten free allergies. The lobster mac and cheese that was mentioned is actually automatically made gluten free for all the tours! Maine craft beer can be substituted for gluten-free beverages as well. When you make your reservation there's a space to note allergies and dietary restrictions. The only tour we would recommend avoiding perhaps is the Lobster Lunch Crawl as there would be a substantial number of substitutions as a very seafood and gluten-oriented tour. I'm sure they are open. I don't remember the exact cost, but it was worth it. Great way to get out and around Portland.

Well let me think about it. You start the tour at Vivacious which is spices but the host does a couple of foodie items. The next stop was the fish market. The next stop was Andy's Old Port Pub but he can opt for juice. The next stop was Gritty McDuff's which, while they are know for their home brewed beer, the real highlight of that stop was the lobster taco. The next stop might be Market Vendors for cheese tasting. The last stop, and new to the tour when we did it, was Sur Lie which was tapas. Great food tour for an 11 year old with options for drinks. I say go for it.
