Hello Kate,
We are glad that we gave you great recommendations to enjoy the remainder of your visit and that you enjoyed some of your foods and found it informative and entertaining.
We have to take issue with your suggestion that we "can't get good restaurants on the tour" as we have no idea where this thought comes from! You neglected to include that you were also served fresh blueberry pastries from a bakery at the start and a choice of local craft beers at 2 locations, and if AJ's memory serves her, the group also enjoyed freshly shucked oysters on the waterfront. We will add that the taco was fresh, locally caught haddock and the full size lobster rolls feature freshly picked Maine lobster, and the dark chocolate truffles are from a multi-award winning chocolatier. We work with over 30 restaurant partners that rotate with us over 13 years in operation, so we will not show them your comment.
We are glad to read that you took AJ up on many of her suggestions and enjoyed your other meals. Many of Portland's restaurants are only open for dinner, and guides love to promote their favorites, especially if we walk by over lunchtime tours. There is a wonderful abundance of amazing food here in town. We wish we could feature all of it!
As to the price, lobster rolls alone are up to $37 pp plus tax/20% tip with some of our partners, so we ask that you are mindful of all costs associated with operations. You are not paying solely for foods and beverages served, you are also paying for the tour guide salaries, staffing for all customer service, websites, marketing, ticketing fees, reseller markups, etc. which all go into providing your experience.
We thank you for joining us.
