This is the hub of the old area of town. Lots and lots of restaurants, ferry boats to the islands of all different sizes and tour boats, taxi boats. Commercial street is the main drag and lots of traffic and tour buses. I did not find a lot of shopping that was quaint to the town and it seemed very... More

Restaurants of nearly every price range and cuisine all within walking distance, you will have to pay to park but it's reasonable prices. Great breweries, local artisan shops, cobblestone streets, ice cream, antiques etc

We were very disappointed to pay a kings ransom to park then find nothing to see. There were a lot of night club type spots on the water but the port was grid locked with commercial properties.

This place was filled with people having fun. We heard a concert on the old pier. Great place to people watch. Seems so clean and safe. Nice spot to hang out.

My wife and I took the Amtrak Downeaster train from the Haverhill station near us to Portland, Maine for the day and had an excellent time. We visited the Portland Science Center and viewed the Titanic Exhibition; it was great, very informative. Afterwards we shopped on Commerce Street right on the waterfront and found a great seafood restaurant for dinner.... More

Taking a stroll through the Old Port with the wonderful shops is a pleasure. The variety of artisans and beautiful buildings would take several days to explore.

If you're looking for a casual stroll and maybe some souvenirs Old Port is a very nice place to stroll around. There are many cute shops and lots of restaurants and ice cream/gelato places. Prices are a bit high as you would expect in a tourist area and expect to pay for parking. There is also a piece of the... More

There are lots of shops to look around in, and plenty of restaurants with all different types of food. There are paid parking lots and garages a few blocks away.
