The museum consists of three buildings. The building I enjoyed the most was the older building, which is a house. The history is interesting since the community got together to save it from being destroyed. In addition, art classes were taught in the house at...More

Each time I go I find something else. Maybe because the docents/ volunteers are so knowledgeable or maybe because I have lingered in another corner. Diverse collection with many media. Strengths are Winslow Homer, maritime art, photography and a scattering of impressionists and Santa Fe...More

We were unsure from the museum's website whether we would enjoy the collections and exhibits here, and were delighted to find that the art work includes some outstanding French impressionist and modern art, as well as other art. While not a very large museum, it...More

The Portland Museum of Art is a good place to visit when in Portland. Ideal central location and worth going in for. Love the way they give room to the art and color to the rooms that the art is in.

The Portland Museum of Art has an excellent collection, and is well-designed in order to be airy and open. The staff were friendly, and the main two buildings were very accessible to someone who is mobility challenged, but the Federal house is not.

If you could check out the picture of a painting I posted and tell me who the artist is. Saw it on Sept. 12, 2015 and it was a self portrait of the female artist.
