We recently traveled on the Monhegan Boat Line out of Port Clyde, Maine to Monhegan Island. We took the early run at 7 AM, which is aboard the Laura B, an old US Army T-57 that served in WWII. The boat is 65 feet long, and is well maintained. The Captain and Crew are friendly and helpful with answering any... More

Great trip and beautiful scenery. Went on Puffin cruise. Cap't pulled lobster traps and let guest handle/pose with lobsters. Cruised by Andrew Wyeth's private island, very neat. Saw lots of puffins at Egg island, but at a distance. Bring a long lens if you want photos, my 140mm didn't cut it. Maybe best part of the trip was the grizzly... More

We took the 2.5 hour Puffin Cruise and couldn't believe all the experiences! Lighthouses are seen best from the water and we got great photos. Watching the crew pull lobster traps and Pete's explanations added to the whole trip! We saw eagles, osprey, puffins, cormorants and many more that I had not seen in the wild. A dolphin and lots... The Monhegan Boat Line was simple, safe and timely. The crew worked very hard to load and unload perishables safely and with out delay, to remain on boat's strict schedule. A boat for all ages groups. Dress accordingly based upon the weather. Reservation should be strongly considered. 207-372-8848 is the number.

We did the afternoon puffin cruise with our two young children. It was fantastic! The crew was professional and courteous. We were able to experience them pulling up lobster traps, puffins, seals, porpoises, osprey and lots of other wildlife. It was definitely the experience we were looking for.

Beautiful relaxing trip. Clean, smooth boat ride from Port Clyde to Monhegan island. Saw dolphins. Bring windbreaker. Sit outside and soak up the view of the quaint fishing villages to open seas, to awesome islands. We left 10:30am, to island. About 45 minutes to get there. Hiked across island to cliffs, and back. Leisurely. Back on boat by 4:30. One Hr... More

When you ride an ocean going ferry you really just want some reasonably warm and dry conveyence to your destination. The Monhegan Ferry Elizabeth Ann has all of these. There are no cars going to Monhegan so the ferry is a pedestrian boat heading back and forth to the Island. It is skippered by a professional captain who may slow... More

The coast of Maine is BEAUTIFUL, so any place you leave on boat to go to Monhegan Island would be great, however Port Clyde is the shortest boat ride. The boats are large enough to hold many people I would say over 50 easy. The employees are so nice and accommodating. There are 3 round trips a day if you... More

We have made this trip many times and it's always a pleasure, beginning with the greetings by the staff, the welcoming of the crew, the boat's simple comfort, and the confidence we can have in the professional competence of the organization.

We used this service to travel to Monhegan for the weekend. The boat isn't fast but the trip isn't too long (about 50 minutes one way). The dockside service was exceptional and the parking area was organized and stress-free. I highly recommend using this service to Monhegan.
