If you are a Civil War buff or just think forts and castles are cool, the gray granite shell of Fort Popham makes for a good visit. There is limited parking, but there were few cars on the foggy July Sunday we visited, and picnic...More

Interesting fort from the Civil War era that you can poke around in... doesn't take very long to walk through but it's still a cool place to stop when in the area and read a little of the history of the fort. There's a small...More

Pretty neat fort. Didn't take a ton of time to visit/tour. Pretty cool how they built and structured the fort.

If you like old fort ruins, this is the place. It is interesting and has information boards with the history. The only thing I might add is that it is a bit out of the way to go see. It has picnic area and a...More

This was an interesting fort...never completed, never fought at. An uphill walk gets you there. There is no charge so it is worth a look. Bring bug spray because there are Mosquitos!

It was a nice day and the parking was mobbed. Parking was limited (so get there early if it is a warm summer day). We had a nice walk on the beach. Popham Colony (in Phippsburg) was founded a few months after Jamestown in 1607....More

Once you tour the entire fort, which doesn't really take that long, the kids get bored. There really isn't much to see here, but the fort does have some great views of the ocean.

Neat place to spend some time. This fort is huge and right on a beach with restraint and store. Free parking get there early and spend the day.

This was our second attempt to visit this fort. The parking is very limited but the sights you get to see was well worth the wait. Stair cases the lead to dead ends, pitch black rooms to explore.

By all means. This park is at the end of the road, so park near by, and walk to wherever you feel would be a good night-time shot of the fort. Some fascinating history with this place.
