Amazing views, immaculate beach, clear water, excellent facilities. Just wish we could've stayed longer! Highly recommend. Bring beach chairs or towels, sit down, and let the ocean work it's magic.

Nice beach- Center and East sides. Plenty of parking in main lot. Two large restroom facilities with showers and changing rooms. Maintained by park personnel daily throughout the year. Nice view of Pond Island Lighthouse from the waters edge. The beach is wide so it’s...More

Highly recommended by my dear friends. Worth it even with flys! Luckily, they liked my husband more. Nice beach, beautiful views, water temp doable. Will bring bug spray next time. Worth it to return. Enjoyed visiting Fort Popham, too.

This is a very nice beach- lots of sand, which means it is a long walk from the parking lot to the water. We went late afternoon on Labor Day- when most people would have left for the day to return home to work, and...More

My brother lives in Maine and would travel down here from time-to-time to go to the beach. We visited in July of 2017 and loved it. It’s off the beaten path from the normal beaches we go to when visiting Southern Maine, but it’s worth...More

Popham Beach state park is the best beach in Maine. I have lived in Maine my entire life and have traveled to this state park many times (along with other beaches in Maine). Popham is unique because you can walk out to Fox Island at...More

This beach was beautiful. It was not over crowded when I went this past week. The parking lot was quite full but the beach was not as full as I thought it would be. Nice sandy beach with so many seashells and sand dollars to...More

I grew up in So Cal, on the beach, so I know a little something about awesome beaches (aka, LJ Shores back in the 1970's & 80's)! But in late July my wife and I were visiting our kid working in Maine for the summer,...More

I love Popham Beach. It's constantly changing. At low tide we walk out to an island. Huge expanse of sand. Water tends to be chilly but it was warm the day we visited. Very swimmable. The sea gulls are kind of brazen so you need...More

Lovely big beach. Great walk over to an island at low tide on a sand bar. Nice size waves for kids to body surf but nice and shallow so felt quite safe even though there is no lifeguard. Food changing rooms and bathrooms etc.

9 a.m. is opening and it closes at sunset, however the parking lot often fills but visitors can park along the road and walk in.

My experience is if you are not in the lot by 11:00 AM ,you will have to park on the shoulder of the road and that's a long haul to the beach !The lot is not so big .So get there early and it is still a long walk to the... More
