Hard to get. Hard to forget
Jan 2020 • Family
The trail to get to the fall is a little over 3km. The last part is the hardest, down the rocks. But when you find yourself inside this cauldron, you will forget the difficulties. It’s a huge fall and it feels like the water is held in this pan-shaped pool. Absolutely marvelous.

1 hour walking but MUST SEE
Nov 2019 • Friends
It takes about one hour walking to reach the waterfall, but its completely worthy. Its really unusual, really really beautiful, those amazing rock formations making canyons surrounding the huge waterfall, unique. This is probably the main attraction in Chapada Diamantina.

The most delicious waterfall bath @ Chapada Diamantina
Sep 2019 • Friends
A wonderful place with a delicious waterfall bath. The access is done through a beautiful canyon that you can cross swinging. Floats are obligatory and supplied by the park administration. A must go place in Chapada Diamantina

BRILLIANT PLACE
Feb 2019
Stop everything you are doing and book yourself a trip to that canyon / waterfall national park. It is the icing on the cake of a fabulous destination: Chapada Diamantina. Loads of natural beauties, great people, awesome colonial cities in the heart of Brazil's most inspiring State: Bahia.

Most incredible hiking experience of my life thus far.
Oct 2018
This experience made our trip through homicidal trucks on curvy highways and bumpy dirt roads foraging streams worth it. I grew up in the mountains and have hiked a lot, but this one was so unique that I will never forget it. There are various types of terrain and plant life throughout the trail, so the scenery never becomes boring. I was nervous about what I'd read about the difficulty of the trail with the edges and drop-offs and ladders since I was hiking with my two young sons (7 and 10), but the ladders are very stable and as long as everyone was being conscious of their movements and staying away from the edges, it was perfectly safe and no one plummetted to their deaths. The best part, of course, was arriving at the river all sweaty and tired, plunging into the cool dark waters (too cold for some of our friends who were with us, but I thought it felt amazing!), and swimming through the sheer cliffs of rock layers to the ultimate reward of the huge waterfall. It was fantastic. We were there when water levels were low, so the trail was a bit easier and the water was not as impressive as when it is in full force, but we were able to swim under and climb up onto the rocks right beneath the falls, so it really was a memorable experience.

The whole hiking and the canyon swimming were stunning! I highly recommend arriving there early to enjoy a long time at the waterfall.

GREAT place!
We drove from Lençóis. It's around 230 km + 28 km on dirt road.
The walk to Buracão is fantastic not too though to reach.
Enjoy your visit.

Left my heart there!
Jan 2017 • Family
What a place! Absolutely amazing and breathtaking waterfall. The experience of swimming through the canyons to get to the waterfall is out of this world. We did a day trip from Lençóis which is a long drive ( 500km the whole trip) but totally worth it. Also the landscape during the is beautiful! If you don't like cold water is a good idea to take neoprene gear. Also snack and water.

Magical - Careful with Google Maps
Dec 2016 • Couples
It was really hard to get here from Lençóis, seen as you can't always trust Google Maps, especially if you set it to avoid motorways and tolls. Yes, seeing the country side is much prettier but when it takes you to a road that's not really a road, it's rocks, stick to tarmac. Might be best to set it to Ibicoara (the town) instead and then get a guide there since you can't get into the falls without a guide anyway.

About the actual waterfall though: AMAZING EXPERIENCE.
1. You can't get into it without a guide

So Caio from Pousada da Roça (where we enjoyed our stay very much) got us a guide call Cleu who charged us 150 or 120 (can't remember now) reais for 4 people. She was great, super patient with us wanting to stop to drone stuff plus was really sweet and quite funny. We met her husband down at the falls who spoke English fluently too.

2. The walk is quite long but mostly flat and very beautiful so it didn't feel too long. Bring sunscreen, water and some snacks (no place to buy anything over there).

It's truly amazing, better than all the other Chapada Diamantina attractions.
