- Virgilio AlmeidaBrasilia, DF184 contributionsHard to get. Hard to forgetThe trail to get to the fall is a little over 3km. The last part is the hardest, down the rocks. But when you find yourself inside this cauldron, you will forget the difficulties. It’s a huge fall and it feels like the water is held in this pan-shaped pool. Absolutely marvelous.Traveled with familyWritten January 21, 2020

A must-go place. If you are staying in Lencois, you will need 2 days. It is so beautiful that I recommend not to go first, or the other attractions will look not so attractive.

It is worth trekking to Buracao Waterfall. It is a very high waterfall and there are flotation life vests included in the admission fee. You can only go there with a guide, what makes the trekking far more secure. It is very refreshing to have a bath there.

It was probably the most stunning scenery I have ever seen in my life.
It was a hassle to get there though but definitely worth it. We drove from Lençois to Mucuge and stayed the night there. The highway was really dark and scary so I don't recommend driving during the night, I found very dangerous.
The next morning we drove to cachoeira do Buracao, we had to walk for about 1 hour to finally get there.
The waterfall is unbelievable, you don't imagine to find such a thing while you're walking in the middle of a deserted flora.
This is a MUST!

A wonderful place with a delicious waterfall bath. The access is done through a beautiful canyon that you can cross swinging. Floats are obligatory and supplied by the park administration. A must go place in Chapada Diamantina

It is not located in Lençois and you need a tour guide to enter the park. However, it is the great experience I had when visiting the area.

The most beautiful waterfall which I have seen. Swimming through the canyon you suddenly see the waterfall and can even swim very close. The canyon is so amazing.

Stop everything you are doing and book yourself a trip to that canyon / waterfall national park. It is the icing on the cake of a fabulous destination: Chapada Diamantina. Loads of natural beauties, great people, awesome colonial cities in the heart of Brazil's most inspiring State: Bahia.

This experience made our trip through homicidal trucks on curvy highways and bumpy dirt roads foraging streams worth it. I grew up in the mountains and have hiked a lot, but this one was so unique that I will never forget it. There are various types of terrain and plant life throughout the trail, so the scenery never becomes boring. I was nervous about what I'd read about the difficulty of the trail with the edges and drop-offs and ladders since I was hiking with my two young sons (7 and 10), but the ladders are very stable and as long as everyone was being conscious of their movements and staying away from the edges, it was perfectly safe and no one plummetted to their deaths. The best part, of course, was arriving at the river all sweaty and tired, plunging into the cool dark waters (too cold for some of our friends who were with us, but I thought it felt amazing!), and swimming through the sheer cliffs of rock layers to the ultimate reward of the huge waterfall. It was fantastic. We were there when water levels were low, so the trail was a bit easier and the water was not as impressive as when it is in full force, but we were able to swim under and climb up onto the rocks right beneath the falls, so it really was a memorable experience.

GREAT place!
We drove from Lençóis. It's around 230 km + 28 km on dirt road.
The walk to Buracão is fantastic not too though to reach.
Enjoy your visit.

Hi,
we want to get access to Buracão. We are traveling from Itaeté to Barra da Casa dos Negros. Possible to reach the falls from there or do we have to enter via the north entrance?
anybody knows a guide which we can book from Itaeté?
Ibicoara is to far away
