An amazing place!

The Orono Bog should not be missed. It's a beautiful, quiet, amazing place. Any trip to Orono should include a trip to the bog.

This place is absolutely magical. You will feel as if you have entered another world. Trees hundreds of years old and only a few feet high. Unusual plants that grow only in this unique ecosystem. Absolute silence and peace. Fascinating. Unforgettable. Caribou bog is the soul of this region. If you come to the Bangor area and love to explore... More

This is a great opportunity to see natural beauty. The boardwalk is easily accessible and makes for a comfortable, flat, stroll. The signs are informative. The walk is a great photo opportunity. There are a lot of unusual plants.

A short walk, that could take hours! Pitcher plants, wild blueberries, birds, and lichen. A must for any traveling naturalist or local that needs some fresh air.

Went for a long walk along the boardwalk with a friend on Sunday, and we were both amazed at just how dramatic and serene the bog is. I'd highly recommend this to anyone going near Bangor! (It's even a perfect place for an impromptu photoshoot!) Just be warned: it does take a little while to walk the whole boardwalk, and... More

My husband and I just returned from an excellent walking experience. We walked slowly along the boardwalk and saw so many plants in flower. I had never seen a picture plant and they abound in the peat bog. Many were still in flower. Amazing plant, the blossom is very intricate, dark red with a greenish yellow center. We did not... More

Ok, so this was totally a treat! First off...what a beautiful area, clean roads, nice parking lot, with a security officer on our way in and then a police car just chillin'....felt incredibly safe! Pathways to the bog and the other trails were wonderful!!! Really, I have some physical limitations and this was a really well maintained place! Even had... More
