Kevin guided my wife and I for a couple of days of fly fishing at Bradford Camps in the northern Maine woods. The fishing was great and Kevin is personable, knowledgable, fun to be with, and a good coach for improving your casting. We had a great time and highly recommend him. A couple of the togue we caught were prepared by the camp cook and were terrific.

I have been wanting to do a guided fishing trip in Maine for a long time, and finally made it happen. Ended up floating down the Penobscot with Zac, who was an excellent guide and gave me just what I asked for. A little fly fishing instruction, some spinner fishing, and lots of beautiful nature with good company. Highly recommend you give this a try!

I was recently in the Bangor area for a job interview, and wanted to spend a day trout fishing with a local guide. My objectives were one: assess the native brook trout fishing on local streams, and two: get a sense of the general area from a local (Kevin has lived in Old Town for over 25 years).
My web search for the proper guide ended once I found Kevin's website, http://fishguideme.com (this site is full of useful information), and saw that he offered exploratory trips at a discounted rate. I emailed Kevin about a week before my trip, and although he was guiding in the remote stretches of Northern Maine, found a reply in my inbox the very next day.
Kevin suggested that we take a canoe out to a small stream that he hadn’t fished in years, but remembered as having a robust native brook trout population. We drove about 30 minutes out of town to a small stream punctuated with deep pools and beaver dams. The plan was that Kevin paddle me down the river while I sit in front and cast to fish.
Kevin’s memory did not deceive him, as the native brook trout seemed plentiful, and appeared to rise to my dry fly on just about every cast. As we paddled down this hidden little stream, Kevin informed me on everything having to do with the Bangor/ Orono/ Old Town area.
My two main objectives were successful, but the overall experience ended up shattering my initial expectations. Kevin found me an amazing little stream, I landed 25+ native brook trout, we had great conversation, and I learned a ton about the local area.
I would not hesitate to book another trip with Kevin, and give him my highest recommendation. I signed up for an exploratory trip, and got so much more than that.

"You never do any fishing when we go on our Summer vacation up the coast of Maine." So said my wife last year after another enjoyable trip along the Maine coast. Soooooooooo this year, 2014, I searched the internet for a Guide Service who could take us to somewhere in Maine where my wife could hike, kayak, read, and knit while I fly fished for a "trophy" trout. I came upon Tracewski Fishing Adventures and contacted Kevin via email and my search had ended. Kevin suggested Nahmakanta Lake Camps, contacted Don and Angel Hibbs (the owners) and we were booked in for five days at the camp with three of those days fly fishing with Kevin. We corresponded back and forth over the Winter and early Spring months and met at Nahmakanta the last week of May. Day one, we drove and hiked to a "pond" that not many
folks had fished. Kevin rowed the boat and looked for telling "weeds" that would hold fish. We found the fish and they found my fly. Later in the day we drove to a stream and caught lots of small brookies and salmon. Day two...another drive to and hike into another remote pond.
Kevin again knew the best spots to fish and within the first 10 minutes on the water I had three fish to the net. We stayed the day on that pond. Kevin kept finding the fish, changing the flies, and educating me on the best way to "bring to the net" large brookies. It was a terrific time.
Day three... a ride up the lake to one of several trails where we unloaded my gear and hiked in to the pond. Kevin said it was a 1PM to 5PM kind of pond so we tried several different flies and found a few that would "work" when the fish started rising. At 1PM not a fish rose...BUT...at 1:30 there were fish rising and jumping out of the water all over the place. Kevin would say "Throw to that rise" and "BANG" the fish would respond and I'd bring it to the net. It was a VERY GOOD DAY...and THE BEST 3 Days of Fly Fishing I've ever had in my 66 years on Mother Earth. Soooooooooooooooooo....if you're looking for a guide with lots of knowledge and experience fly fishing remote ponds and streams and, without a doubt, ponds and streams that aren't remote... Tracewski Fishing Adventures (Kevin Tracewski) has proven to me to be the BEST, MOST INFORMATIVE and Personable Guide Service an individual or family (he likes kids) could ask for. Give him a call...you won't be disappointed.

My wife and my 6 and 4 year-old daughters and I spent an incredible day on the Penobscot River with Kevin Tracewski. My intent was to have an easy-going and enjoyable day to introduce my wife and daughters to the pleasures of fishing in general and a float trip in particular. I had very high hopes for the day, and the trip exceeded even those high hopes. Kevin, a father of two older daughters himself, was fantastic with our kids. His laid-back demeanor and genuine interest in our kids and in ensuring that they had a great day and his patience with them were invaluable. The great weather and cooperative smallmouth bass helped, but the trip was a success because of Kevin's ability to tailor the trip to a family with young children. My older daughter caught the largest fish of the day unassisted and can't wait to go back- exactly what I had hoped for. I will definitely book another trip with Tracewski Fishing Adventures.

The guys (ages 43, 15 and 14) really enjoyed the canoe trip, caught lots of fish and seen the wildlife on the trip downstream. They were very pleased with the guide and the trip!

My fishing buddy and I spent 2 days fishing with Kevin in July. We could not have asked for a better experience on the water. Kevin put us on spots to catch fish and the Smallmouth Bass cooperated. We released 100+ nice healthy "Smallies" over the two days we fished with Kevin. We also saw all types of wildlife on the float that made the time that much more enjoyable for fishermen like us.
It was a GREAT experience and I cannot recommend spending a day fishing with Kevin more highly!

I've been fly fishing for almost 30 years and engaged dozens of guides. Our recent Penobscot River float with one of Kevin's guides, Zach, was not only the highlight of our trip, but one of the best guide experiences we've ever had.
The conversations started well before the trip. Kevin helped us with some trip planning which was very well done. He asked for a little extra for that. We were advised about lodging, sightseeing, out of the way restaurants, etc. All well done.
My wife hasn't fished for years, so we requested spinning gear for her. I was concerned she might have forgotten how to cast and retrieve, but after a few polite tips from Zach I felt like I had Roland Martin in the bow of the drift boat and she was outfishing me!
Zach was totally engaging, funny, and helpful when needed. HE thought the fishing was slow, and I guess it was comparatively, but around 35 nice sized river smallies averaging around 15" to hand for a day didn't seem very slow to us at all! Shoreside lunch was well done, always a conversation between the three of us, everything was handled perfectly.
I recommend without reservations engaging Kevin for any trips he does in the region. You will not find better or more accommodating guide service anywhere.

Booked a day trip with Kevin Tracewski for my husband and two teenage sons. It was the highlight of our week. My boys haven't stopped talking about it for days and if you have teenagers you know how huge that is...they are not easily impressed! The scenery was beautiful, they caught more fish than they could count and enjoyed the day of conversation with Kevin as well. Kevin was great throughout the entire process...he always got back to me quickly with thorough answers to our questions and was a joy to work with. We can't wait to go back!

While vacationing in Maine last summer, my girlfriend and I were able to go on a fishing adventure with Kevin for 2 Days. I had always been a lake fisher (25+ years) so Kevin's in-depth knowledge of the rivers, brooks, and streams of Maine made our trip such an amazing experience. He knew all the spots to catch the big ones and I can honestly say that I have never caught so many fish in one day in my entire life!
Since he is a local expert, he also helped us map out the non-fishing part of our trip, enabling us to go to some of the most scenic areas and delicious restaurants in Maine.
We also enjoyed all his story's and anecdotes of being a U Maine professor and raising his 3 children in the area. He is certainly a source of endless entertainment.
It was my first trip to Maine and I will never forget it. I will definitely be back soon!
