Although the day was overcast it was HOT! Once on the boat and we were underway there was a wonderful breeze so it was quite comfortable. Our Captain and the 2 mates were terrific. It was a guided tour and I recommend that you sit on the starboard (right) side of the boat so you get the best views of the things that she was talking about during her narration. Nothing but open water on the port side and you can see that on the way back. There is a bathroom on board and a full bar for cocktails and soft drinks if you want them. A great view of the Lighthouse and island and you will go around to the back side of the island (you can only see from the water) Bonus - We saw Harbor Seals and a Sun Fish. A most enjoyable afternoon and well worth the money. When you get to Perkins Cove we recommend trying to park in the town lot much cheaper. $ 12.00 for 3 hours as opposed to $20 and $25 and the town lot is much closer! Win Win! While you're waiting for your ride there is a little restaurant (next to the little stand where you pick up your tickets) that has outdoor seating and delicious ice cream.

We've vacationed in Ogunquit a number of times over the last 35 years yet never took a Perkins Cove boat excursion of any kind, preferring the beach since we only stay 2 or 3 nights. But an overcast morning led us to book a lobstering cruise and it was a lot of fun. The choppy water (but not that bad) made it even more fun. The captain's corny/predictable jokes were a nice touch and the mate's narration was educational even though we've spent a lot of time there. It actually seemed like we were out there for more than an hour - in a good way. We recommend it!

We set sail from Perkins Cove in minor fog and enjoyed fabulous views of the Ogunquit and York coastline. When we arrived at the Nubble lighthouse the fog really got thick, but it was still nonetheless beautiful. The tour guide was super, the drinks were cold, and the passengers were appropriately spaced out and wearing masks. This is an awesome 1.5 hour family activity.

Nubble Light is my favorite place on the planet. I’ve been looking forward to getting a closer look by sea for a long time. Jonah and Captain Bob were great but passengers who behaved badly ruined it for me. NOT the fault of Jonah who did everything he could and was an absolute hero to me.
My one goal of this adventure was to get a selfie of me on the boat with the lighthouse in the background which became impossible.
I was sitting in the forward open air seats, and there were 5 other passengers. This was not a cocktail cruise and masks were mandatory. The five other people took their masks off and would not keep them on. I asked Jonah to ask them to put their masks on. One couple complied the entire time, but the couple in the very front of the boat did not unless Jonah told them again and again. When we stopped at Nubble Light, Jonah was giving us the history which was of great interest to me. This couple who wouldn’t keep their masks on took out an entire loaf of bread and started throwing endless amounts to the seagulls. The gulls came in droves and started dive bombing the ship not only obscuring the view but pooping everywhere. I had to grab my stuff and run to the inner cabin. Yes it was like the Hitchcock movie but without the blood thankfully...
Jonah came to apologize to me once we started sailing again and I told him that I know it wasn’t his fault but that ruined the experience for me. He was very nice and apologetic and again not his fault they were idiots. I do wish that Jonah or the Captain has been able to ask them to stop but by the time it was out of control it was too late anyway.
I will come back on another cruise another time and hope for better.
I think I was perhaps too excited about going to the lighthouse to think through what it could be like on board, although if this couple hadn’t fed the gulls it would have been very different and 100% enjoyable.

Don't miss this! We were in Ogunquit for all of a day and a half and booked the Nubble Lighthouse tour. The captain did warn us about swells, and it was a little rough, but not enough to trouble us. The narrator/bartender is a local young man and had SO MUCH to share about the shoreline, the Nubble Light, the recent and older history... When we got to the light we had an up-close view of all sides as well as great info about the people and history as well as useful info about York and the surrounding area.

We have done several cruises with Finestkind and we always enjoy our excursions! The kids love the lobster boat cruise. The crew on board demonstrates how they set and haul the traps. They also provide a nice narrated scenic tour of the coastline and the local history.

We took the Nubble Lighthouse Cruise and found it fun and relaxing. We enjoyed the narration identifying local points of interest and history. The only glitch was parking. We arrived early because we wanted to eat lunch at the restaurant next door, but discovered all the close parking lots were either full or had a two hour maximum, which would not allow time for lunch and the cruise. We settled for a parking lot about 3/4 mile away.

I took the Sunset Cocktail Cruise (7:15) with my husband and two other couples, and we loved it. I did this cruise about 4 years ago, and it was just as great then. The crew is welcoming and personable. Once we were seated, there was a nice young man coming around taking our drink orders, which I thought worked out great to avoid there being a bunch of people getting up and down and crowding around the bar. The drinks were great, and they had a nice assortment to choose from. They stay fairly close to shore and intersperse the trip with some nice history and points of interest. I would highly recommend Finestkind.

We had booked a breakfast cruise days in advance so as the day of our excursion was pouring rain our expectations were not too high. The boat seating is pretty well covered so that was a positive start! Before leaving the dock, we were served coffee, juice and muffins (blueberry was very good) from a local bakery. Once on our way, the boat heads north along the coast while the sights along the way are are described. The highlight for us was seeing the resident harbor seals. There were probably thirty or so on the low tide exposed rocks and also some swimming quite close to the boat. That made our day, rain or not. A bit of lobstering lore from the narrator fills the return to the dock. I'd recommend this trip to anyone rain or shine!

I keep calling the reservation line and no one ever answers. There's no option to leave a voicemail as the box is full. I also emailed them, through the website but did not get a response. Is this place still open?

Is the lobster cruise good for younger children (my youngest will be just shy of 3)? Is motion sickness medication a good idea?

HI - we recommend the lobster trips for kids as it is the shortest and stays very close to shore. If your child has had problems with motion sickness in the past you could consider giving them something but it's usually not a problem. The best thing you can do is check conditions the day you'd like to go, as the seas are usually calm but occasionally we do have choppy seas. Looking forward to seeing you in Perkins Cove!

Does anyone know what hotel includes this cruise as part of it's package? We stayed at a hotel in Ogunquit that had this deal in the past but can't remember the name of it.

I don't know the hotel you mean but the cruise isn't too pricey. We just loved it. It came highly recommended from an avid local who Summer's there every summer.
