Almost a fjord but, more technically a fjard, Somes Sound is great scenic destination and just one of many you'll find in Acadia National Park. Easily viewed from your car, if you're driving through or, for the more ambitious, from high ground after a short...More

Beautiful sound...particularly liked seeing it from the Sea Princess cruise. The cruise told about the area's history and you get to see all along the coast line. Seeing the beautiful "cottages" was a real treat.

We spent an afternoon hiking near Sommes Sound. It was quite beautiful and afforded some of the most spectacular views on MDI.

Beautiful scenery that never disappoints. Take Sargent Drive in Northeast Harbor and it will take you right along the edge. For an on the water experience, take The Sea Princess out of Northeast Harbor.

Somesville with its most photgraphic bridge is always enjoyable. Saw the eagles that were nesting nearby. The old cemetary is a nice lace for a quiet stroll.

I don't think that there is a brochure on the Sound. No one makes any money on the Sound, so no one is going to pay to print a brochure. Somes Sound stands out as scenic, historic, and geographically unique. You can't... More

You should ask this question directly to the vessel operators because they might change docks or POD's depending on the occupancy vs. people booked.
