Breathtaking hike along the Bold Coast Public Land

After the hike down from the road you will look out to the c\open Atlantic from cliffs over 100 feet straight up from the ocean. It is one of the most incredible views of Maine.

Eastport to Lubec then down to Millbridge. The Bold Coast Scenic Byway is many things. It provides a marked route(s) for hiking and driving through the very northern part of coastal Maine. Myself, we were returning from New Brunswick and we wanted to drive through Down East Maine and see as much as we could. Our schedule did not permit... More

This is a good hike and well worth the effort if you are in town. It's moderate, with a few slightly difficult sports and a good number of fine vistas if you take the coastal route. The blazing could be a little better, but it isn't very hard to follow.

Exploremaine.org defines the Bold Coast as "The 125-miles long Bold Coast route extends from the coastal fishing community of Milbridge eastward along the coast to Lubec, the easternmost town in the United States, and then scoops around Cobscook Bay to Eastport". This in all honesty could take you several days! I have been coming here for the past 3 years.... More

Hiking out to the cliffs is magical and once you get to the sea the view is jaw dropping. Last time we were there we spotted whales not too far offshore. A must do hike if you are in the area.

It is what it's name suggests - BOLD OCEAN hiking! Not easy and not too hard; 'on a clear day you can see forever'; crashing surf against sheer rocky cliffs. The sights, smells and sounds will stay with you long after. If you are a hiker... DO IT!

Born and raised in southern Maine, I'm proud to call myself a native. But it wasn't until I moved Downeast that I truly understood how beautiful and precious our state really is. Maine's Bold Coast is a site to behold -- shear granite cliffs dropping 40 feet into the frigid North Atlantic waters, blueberry-lined trails winding through dense forests, and... More

The Bold Coast of Maine...is a 125-mile coastal (and a very little bit inland) area from Millbridge all the way to Lubec...passing through towns such as Jonesport and Machias north and east to Lubec. In Lubec, the Bold Coast winds around Cobscook Bay up to Eastport. A four-season area with lots to offer Mainers and tourists alike. State Parks, gorgeous... More

Campobello and entire island a must see!! We spent an entire day between the Roosevelt compound and the sights on the island. We spent an entire day and could have still seen more. Will definitely return at some future time. One of the highlights of our trip. Also visit West Quoddy Head lighthouse..worth the time.

We hiked this trail on a very warm September afternoon. The views were stunning and at one point we were able to hike down to the water's edge and sit on the rocks and cool our feet in the water.
