If you want a tool this is the place to go. Once through the door a person is surrounded by every type of tool one could need for work around the house, on a car, or any other project one may have. Tools are mainly used in good condition at very fair prices. Worth the stop even if you don't need a tool.

One can read "Old Tool Geek" either way and it still works.
Probably nobody reading this needs to be told that this is a huge old building filled to the brim with used and antique tools. The selection is extraordinary and fun to peruse even if you're just browsing. Be prepared to spend a couple of hours. It may be just me but it seemed on this year's visit that the tools were a tad better organized than on our visit last year; even tighter grouping would help, though perhaps be less fun. And if your companion begs to just sit in the car for those same couple of hours, there's an interesting museum across the street and a more general antiques shop just a minute or two's walk down the road.

My husband and I absolutely love this shop. Endless tools, vintage items, and needful things. Always new inventory and fair pricing. Found my favorite little ball peen hammer here and it was well worn and the perfect size. You can find things here that are not found in any store.

Not only is there a vast collection of antique tools, nails etc. there are other old items such as furniture, books, dolls and other collectibles. Time is needed for collectors to explore the cellar and 4 floors. A truly unique and unusual experience. There is no elevator and the stairs are steep. Parking is easy and available-the public parking area is by it in mid village.

Wow, is all I can say! I visited Liberty Tool with my husband. We were in Maine, on the way to Bar Harbor, and he had read an article about this place and wanted to visit. It was a delightful trip along the back roads to get here. This is a old house with a cellar and three floors above that, all packed with more tools than I have ever seen in one place! If you need a handsaw, wrench, hammer, screwdriver, axe, lathe, nut, bolt and on and on then this is the place to find it. There were jars of screws, nuts, bolts and odds and ends. Old jars, I found two amber colored old bottles for $2.50 each. The prices were fantastic for old tools. Wooden handled screwdriver was $1.25! We spent two hours just looking at everything on all floors of the building. Truly a curiosity of a place to browse! I just wish I lived closer so I could visit once a week to see new items that come thru the door!

I had been longing to visit this place since seeing the Vimeo online video called "There's No Place Like Here". Finally, we were in Maine and although it meant driving an hour out of the way (each way)... I got to visit Liberty Tool Company! If you are a handyman, tinkerer, picker, antiquer, mechanic, machinist, woodworker or just someone you values craftsmanship.... you have to visit. Three floors full of mostly tools (but also some other general antiques) along with a building (an old gas station) across the street which houses even MORE stuff. Close your eyes and picture hundreds of card catalogs full of drill bits, bins chock full of pliers, hammers, screwdrivers, hundreds of mechanics drawers full of sockets, hand tools, saws hanging form every rafter. You must visit this place if you're even remotely passing through, and actually even if you're not. Watch the video mentioned above, it's beautifully done and will give you a great idea of what Liberty Tool Co. is all about.

Interesting collections of STUFF!! housed within 3 story building of antique origin. If it's a widget you are looking for chances are they'll have it. Books and euphemera on 2nd level; household, collectibles on 3rd. Do not visit if you are subject to asthma as the dust may get to you. Better that you shop across the street at Liberty Graphics for a unique T or sweatshirt at bargin prices. A small historical postoffice is sometimes open, but there are 2-3 antique/consigment stores as well. Have icecream at John's RT3 or continue onto Belfast ~20miles east

Great selection of tools, but smaller than I expected. It's worth a stop if you like old tools. No indoor bathrooms available. Friendly staff.

Our son just moved to Liberty so we were exploring downtown. This is quite the store. All kinds of things to discover on all 3 floors. We had a wonderful time browsing around and finding treasures.
