We are so fortunate to have found this lookout at peak Fall colors. We went up yesterday and spent a lot of time just gazing out at the expansive landscape, talking to other visitors and, of course, taking pictures. Yes, there is a $10 fee, but it is privately owned, and the owner has put in a lot of time and expense on the road and viewing area. Well worth it!

My Wife and I visited IRA on 8/21/16 and it took our breath away. If I could suggest one thing, it would be to add some grills to let people picnic on it. We will RETURN for sure. Thanks to our FRIENDS Roberta and Rod Braley for telling us about it.

Beautiful foliage views from the top of Ira's Mountain. Lots of big, big, big boulders which line the roadside; a creation which makes one smile just thinking of how much an indivdual can become so dedicated to something which is so personal and yet also so public....The road up Ira's Mountain is likely to have already found its way into some list such 100 Quirky and Beautiful Places to Visit in New England -- and if that book does not yet exist, then a place like this makes one want to write it! Have fun - it's worth the detour!

I just went to the "temple" at Ira Mountain, courtesy of my brother, who lives in the area and seems always to know about these less famous sites. It was a rainy, foggy day, so we did not go all the way up, but we stopped at the Temple to check it out. What an amazing place this is. Mr. Brochu is fairly well known in the area and is very generous. This has to be one of his masterpieces. The fact that he was able to accomplish it in the first place is something to ponder. Fascinating to look at and what a great place for an event. We tried the clapping and it did work for us, which was an added pleasure.

Great little spot to check out - the view at the top was amazing and a great picnic spot. Family loved the chance to play around the stairs and echo area built there as well.

We go a few times a year. Some of the most amazing views around. The rocks are fun to snap some pictures of. Be sure to climb to the top to check out the scenery and then drive to the top.

After visiting the gorgeous views of Quill Hill, I was inspired to find Ira Mountain, which I was told can be credited to the same individual who owns and maintains these overlooks. Definitely make an effort to see Quill Hill, too.
There are picnic tables, places to sit and enjoy the view and breathtaking views. The parking area is a bit smaller than Quill Hill, but even if you are parked in, it would be worth the wait to get out. There is also a large arena that has been made, surrounded by rocks. It's a little steep, but very awesome. It started raining while we were there, otherwise, I may have just sat in one of the chairs at the bottom to relax and enjoy the area.
