Description:

This is a demonstration of lobster fishing and information about lobster...

This is a demonstration of lobster fishing and information about lobster biology, Maine lobster fisheries, commercial aspects of the fishery and last but not least, some local history. Fun for the whole family.

The Rugosa is a real wooden lobster boat out on the Gulf of Maine and is not really appropriate for children under 4 years of age. There are no facilities for baby changing and very young children are often times, a distraction to the rest of the guests aboard the boat enjoying the presentation. Baby sitting services are available in the area and the Nonantum resort has the contact info for these services.

This tour was great! The Captain was entertaining and very informative as well. Everyone got to take part in the banding of lobsters, touching them, and throwing them back in the ocean. Very fun!

My mom and I had a really great time on this tour. The staff is very knowledgeable and entertaining, and we enjoyed being able to touch the lobsters. After seeing the lobsters, the captain also took us to check out the Bush Compound from sea. We appreciated the staff's in depth knowledge of not only lobsters, but also local history!

My 15 year old daughter, wife, and I booked a tour on the Rugosa for a Wednesday afternoon. The captain called earlier that day to say the waters were choppy and the wind is a factor. We were offered a refund or the option of booking the next day. Fortunately we had another day at Kennebunkport (Nonantum Resort). Thursday was... More

My husband, my teenaged daughter and myself all enjoyed this tour. It was educational and fun; the tour was full, but everyone got to participate.

Brought twin 3 year olds.... Everyone had a great time. Staff was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. In depth talk about lobsters, and local working boats. A little sightseeing was thrown in for good measure. Highly recommended!

We love tours and people who work hard to ensure it is worth it. Captain Bob and his helper/teacher were awesome. Everyone had fun and learned a lot!! FYI to trip Advisor, when you search things to do, this does not come up, you must search tours, they should be listed 1'st as things to do. See Bush compound, see... More

We had a great time and learned a lot about lobsters and the industry. It's as hands on as you want (holding, banding the lobsters) and our Captain and his assistant were really nice, funny, and did a super job with the tour and talk!

Truly enjoyed the tour on Captain Bob's Lobster Boat - you'll learn about the lobstering industry, the biology of the animal, and you'll even get to handle a few live lobsters. Don't be shy - they're fun to handle. At the time of writing, this tour is #1 in Kennebunkport, and it's well deserved. Definitely check it out.
