After visiting many galleries, I stumbled upon the W. Robert Paine gallery and met Mr. Paine. He showed me around his gallery and regaled me with stories about his life. His paintings are absolutely beautiful. Mr. Paine himself, is charming, kind, amazingly talented, and fun to talk with. He won me over completely. If you ever have the chance to... More

I stopped in this little gallery to look for original artwork. Mr Paine (93 years old at this writing) is a charming fellow with an amazing personal story and history. He has not painted for some time due to a catastrophic eye injury, but he has reproductions of his great artwork. While a reproduction was not what I was in... More

stop in to view lovely prints of works by the artist (who has now lost his vision) and hear stories from his wife about his inspiration.

Mr. Paine's paintings are quite wonderful, as are the prints from them. Unfortunately, he's no longer able to paint, but the cards and prints are tremendously evocative of this beautiful area. Visit the gallery and visit with his dear wife who manages the business.

The paintings were of very good quality. The owners were very informative and not pushy in any regards.

OK, this older artist is experienced and super authentic. He signs all his paintings, you can even commission him to paint a house or beach, etc. that you like up here, and he will incorporate some personal items like a family member or a family dog. You don't have to buy an original - the prints of his paintings are... More

We have purchased many creations from Bob and Evelyn over the years. He specialized in local scenes in New England. His work is fabulous and they are super friendly to spend time with talking about each painting and how it came about to be. Just walk in their shop right off dock square and browse around.

The most charming and friendly couple! Mr. Paine's art is from local landmarks. A true souvenir to remember our trip by! We enjoyed meeting them and taking home our treasure. A favorite memory from our New England trip.

A very nice and interesting gallery. Enjoyed seeing what they had to offer. Close to other galleries too, so you can make one stop and see several places. Very helpful woman there to help.

I own six different prints by Bob Paine and make it a point to stop in the gallery each time I am in town. He and his wife, Evelyn, are tremendously nice people and they bring to life each of the works. The gallery is small and part of their home, so the art can all be viewed in a... More
