Excellent trip for Smallmouth bass. He took us out on a beautiful lake that he knew extremely well. We caught a handful of large bass including a 4lb lunker. The fishing was a bit slow but Matt worked hard the whole time to get us on some fish. Very personable, knowledgeable and very good with my family.

Took my 13 year old son fishing for a whole day. Its a trip off the Island of Bar Harbor, but worth the trip and is located in a remote area, on a crystal clear spring fed pond. Matt has fished in this pond for years, and know the ins and outs. Did not catch any salmon which was one of the specials we wanted, but did catch 5 lake trout while trolling. Also fished for smallmouth bass, and also caught 5 bass in the 3 pound range. The water is so clear that on a couple we actually saw them bite the lure. What fun! Knowledgeable, professional, and great with my son, Matt was also fun to talk with while on the lake.

I recently returned from a week long trip in Bar Harbor Maine and had researched a fresh water fishing guide with which to take my 7 year old son. I came across Eagle Mountain during my research and would recommend them to anyone looking for the same. Let me say from the outset that we did not have much luck the morning we fished (6 AM - 10:00 AM) but that is the nature of fishing. We caught one 2 lb salmon, which the quiet, 4 mile lake is stocked with from a hatchery about 2 hours away and had no luck when we went after bass. However, Matt, our guide, was relentless in trying to improve our chances, pulling out all the tools in his arsenal to try and land some fish. Most importantly, he was great with my 7 year old. Up until now my son had only fished with a spincast reel and I have wanted him to start using an open faced reel. As a result of Matt's instruction and guidance my son was comfortably casting with an open face during the trip. In addition Matt was giving him constant pointers on the key lessons of fishing. This made the trip worthwhile despite only catching one fish. Matt is a good man, a Navy vet who flew sub hunters during the tail end of the Cold War (I believe the P-8's) he also regularly guides hunts with members of the Special Operations Wounded Warriors (SOWW). He is a wealth of information about fishing and hunting in the area. I would certainly call upon his services again and if you are looking for a freshwater fishing guide in the area, I would recommend you do the same.

Loved the remote location of the lake! The best part was our guide- he was so patient with our kids and had so much knowledge of the area. It was a first time in Maine and we had a great day fishing!

This was a wonderful adventure. Matt made sure that my son and husband had a great experience fishing. They each caught salmon, bass and trout. I wouldn't trade their expressions of happiness for anything. I highly recommend this to anyone who wants an expert to help you find the best fish!
