The Moosehead Historical Society is a real gem! Wonderful people, very interesting exhibits, and a beautiful old house full of wonderful antiques. Thorough tours of the house are done very well. Areas of the museum focus on logging, mercantile, schools, resort hotels, transportation, etc. My main interest was transportation, so I found the steamship and railroad displays very satisfying and... This is a great place to visit while your in Greenville. Learn some of the local history and meet some locals. The locals are also the best to get tips from!

Due to inclement weather, we planned to tour the Moosehead Historical Society Craft House. We were carefully instructed where to go for the start of the tour (sit on the bench). Our guide had lived in the area quite a while and had hilarous stories to tell. Each room represented a different phase of life and it was very well... More

We were fortunate to be in the area when they were holding a special lecture on the last logging days on Moosehead Lake. What a great lecture.. the folks who run this society are so frendly and helpful!!!

On a recent vacation my Wife and I stopped in Greenville for just a minute and ended up staying for 2 days. Our first stop was at the Museum which was closing in 1 hour. When we expressed our concern about not completing the tour in that time frame, we were assured that we would be seeing everything no matter... More

The staff are very knowledgeable and offer a wealth of information about the history of the Moosehead region and the logging industry. A small museum is on site with hundreds of items related to the history of logging in this region.

Clean, organized, well light and helpful. We were a group of 4 senior citizens. We enjoyed our stop at the Historical Society. What else would you need?

We arrived to get some information and ended up taking a tour of the premises, led by two women wearing outfits from a century ago. They gave us a lot of stories about the house we toured, the region in general, the days of big hotels on the lake (all now gone), and the type of life the residents had... More

My Dad dragged all of us to the Historical Society on an overcast day. It is a small place but the woman in charge was very knowledgable. They had a box with stuff to " guess' what it was and the woman was very patient with my son. Nice information about the area. Interesting things on logging and flying.
