A tasting to remember
Oct 2021 • Couples
Stopped in at the Bartlett Winery for a tasting. After you park the car, you have a very short walk down a dirt trail through the woods and you are at the winery. I though that was a unique entrance to the winery. While we were there for our tasting, several people came in to pick up a case or bottles of wine. Lots of repeat customers. The blueberry wine seems to be quite popular! I REALLY liked the Blackberry Liqueur. WOW!
It’s a Honey Spirit sweetly infused with hand harvested Maine blackberries. Never had anything like it before. Kathe’, who did our wine tasting was a hoot! She’ll remember us four from Louisiana alright! My brother and her kept us all laughing. He’s a spit fire and he met his match with Kathe’. We loved watching them cut up! She’s great at her job and has an amazing ability to guide you the perfectly suited wine for you! We’ll definitely be back when in the area again.

NE Maine winery and distellery just ok. $10pp for 5 tiny tastes. The wine was ok but per bottle a little high.

We would go back.

My husband and I enjoyed our stop at the Bartlett winery. The owner was running the tasting room the day we stopped and she was quite knowledgeable about the product and pleasant as we conversed during our wine sampling. It definitely felt like an adult setting. It is a winery after all. But it just felt like a place we enjoyed as an adult couple and if we had had children with us it would not have been as relaxing. And while we were not rushed through our tasting, there was no encouragement to linger either. Which was fine. We enjoyed the experience. But it was just not as relaxing as some tasting experiences might be. The winery also had some liqueurs and some rum which they produce. All with various fruits which made it unique. We did purchase several bottles of wine in the $20 range that we will enjoy. The liqueurs and the rum were more expensive. Overall it was a pleasant time. We would go back.

Spirited sampling
Jul 2021 • Friends
Waaaay off the beaten path and through a forested walk is the sampling room.
The bar area is very small and we waited at least an hour to go in and sample.
Regardless of the wait, the Bartlett’s do have some unique selections especially if you’re a spirits kind of fan.
We enjoyed the port and raspberry wine the best.
Four out of five was because Ms Bartlett hand washed the sampling glasses in front of us prior to the next wave of customers coming in and especially during covid, had I known this, I would NOT have sampled.

Our experience here was amazing.

Amazing find! Showed up on Tuesday, the day before. They open. So glad we went back on Wednesday. Great products but just as importantly, such a gracious host/owner! Learned a lot, had some laughs, bought some wine and spirits and left with some great little glasses used during the tastings. Don't miss it!

Great local winery with a rich history and tasty wines!
Jul 2020
My husband and I had a fantastic, COVID safe, visit to this winery! It was great to meet the owner and learn about the history of the winery (and wineries in Maine in general). The wines are all tasty, and it's always a treat to try new fruit wines. Personally, I learn so much every time I visit a fruit winery because it has such a long and rich history here in the U.S. I highly recommend this experience!

Totally ignored
Sep 2019
My husband and I were taking a day trip from Bar Harbor following a National Geographic Guide Book. This was one place they recommended. We pulled up about the same time a car with four ladies in it did. The six of us walked in and I asked for the restroom. When I came out everyone was standing around the small area inside. Finally the lady asked if we wanted to taste the wines and everyone said, "yes". We all stood around the small counter and the lady who worked there proceeded to visit with the four ladies, who were apparently local. She never acknowledged us. She just kept yakking. Also, the ladies never once said, maybe you want to help this couple. So I think they were all rude. This was so frustrating that even my even-tempered, kind husband turned to me and signaled let's get out of here. I was so glad he said it. Then I knew I was not imagining the total lack of interest from the employee (owner?). When we went to leave she said she thought we were with the ladies. You know how she could have found out? She could have asked us!! She followed us outside apologizing, but we kept walking. What a fiasco.

Exceptional wines
May 2019
This is Maine's oldest winery and one that produces wines not from juice, but from fruit, much of which is locally grown, although some does come from other New England orchards. The wine we tasted was very good and very unique. We ended up buying several bottles to bring home. The woman who ran the tasting could not have been friendlier and more informative. Nice grounds around the sales area.

Wonderful visit!
Jul 2019 • Couples
Wonderful little stop! We kind of wondered what we were getting into when we pulled up to the little wooded path to the winery, but this only added to the experience. We had an absolute ball sampling their very unique and tasty wines made from Maine agricultural products (peaches, raspberries, wild blueberries), and even more fun discussing anything and everything with Kathie, the owner! While we don’t know a lot about wine, we loved the tasting and look forward to returning on our next vacation.

Full-service experience in wine-tasting. This winery (that also has a distillery) is a bit out of the way, but we truly enjoyed our experience! After parking, you walk up a short, wooded trail to the building. The owner served us wine... and local information. We did not feel rushed to move on to the next wine as she shared ideas for good places to visit, exceptional local restaurant suggestions, and friendly discussion.

While we were there, a sudden rainstorm arose. What a wonderful place to be “trapped” in a storm! It just gave us time to try some of the tasty spirits along with the wide variety of wines to suit just about every palate!
