Reid State Park is always one of our go-to beaches when we visit Maine. Reid has the best waves when the tide is coming in - just amazing! Unfortunately, this year we spent a good deal of time swatting biting insects, the worst of which were the greenhead horseflies. Ugh. Just awful. The mosquitoes come out in full force in... More

Ugh, at the height of the summer be prepared to fight off nasty green bugs and other biting insects. We chose Reid because it is quiet, clean, absolutely beautiful, has a nice sand beach plus rocks to explore too. We have a 2yo so we also liked the idea of the lagoon which has water that is much warmer than... More

This review might be a tad biased, since I'm not a big fan of just rock-only beaches, which much of Maine has. So having a park that has a beach shoreline, a lagoon, and some rocky areas, was a desirable place to visit numerous times for relaxtions and great scenery. The admission is $8 per person for out of towners,... More

Several amazing sandy surf beaches; rocks to climb upon; tide pools galore. Hiking trails. Lovely picnic sites. Heaven on earth.

My 10-year old granddaughter loved exploring the lagoon-really a large tidal pool, especially a large living whelk we found in about 3 feet of water. Then we enjoyed lying on the beach, listening to the waves, and being cooled by ocean breezes. Large bathhouse with changing rooms, flush toilets, and outside high and low showers completed the satisfaction. Lobsters at... More

Seven of our family visited Half Mile Beach Tuesday afternoon to celebrate my husband's 70th birthday--he wanted to fish on the incoming tide. The fishing wasn't great (but it's the fun, right?) but we were blessed with great weather and a beach that wasn't crowded. Our two granddaughters, ages 7 and 2, had fun playing in the water and sand.... More

I went here on the last day of June, and being that I work in an industry that is busy during the summer, it was a perfect day for an adventure. I had never been here before, despite living in Maine for most of my life. The grounds are beautiful - imagine Acadia but on a smaller scale. There is... More

Beautiful park with not as much of a crowd. We enjoy the beach almost completely to ourselves after 3pm almost every time we go. I honestly don't understand how other beaches are more popular Reid by far is our favorite❤️❤️❤️

This is a relatively small state park with a beautiful sandy beach with lifeguards and a lagoon with lifeguards. Rocks to climb tidal pools to explore. Clean bathrooms. Open9 am to sunset.

Gorgeous secluded spot in Georgetown. Particularly enjoyed Todd's Head at low tide. Walk all the way to the right of the beach and at low tide you can swim in the shallow 'river' the ocean flows into. Great for anyone, but especially younger kids that enjoy no waves and just wading. My daughter enjoyed trying to find ocean life there... More
