As we have done in the past, we recently walked along Shore Road and stopped at this beautiful chapel by the sea. The chapel is open daily and donations are welcome.

Quaint & Picturesque Church Sitting Beside The Atlantic Ocean
May 2019 • Couples
We had been to Boothbay Harbor, Maine a few times before and never heard about this until I was planning this trip. Sites like this allow for visiting special gems like this that we were unaware of before! The drive up to the church was beautiful! There were some people walking their dogs, we saw an artist painting the picturesque view, and others were walking along the rocky shoreline. When you arrive at the church you see a cobblestone building set on a slight hill overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. I couldn't think of a more beautiful setting for a church! There's a sign out front with a potted flower box decorated for Memorial Day with info about the church. The church was free to enter, and it was unlocked when we were there (Monday/Memorial Day.)
There's a bell on top of the church, and 2 flower pots out front adding to beauty of this quaint, little church. There are 10-12 steps out front, so the severely mobility impaired may not be able to go inside. It's still a beautiful setting/outside and I think all would enjoy a visit here. Upon entering the inside, you will see wooden church pews with hymnals in them. There's a few hanging lights, stain glassed window, and the pulpit is made out of cobble stone. My husband and I were the only two in the church so we took a moment to pray and sing a few songs out of the hymnal. The two songs we sang were, "Holy, Holy, Holy," and, "Crown Him With Many Crowns," on pages 2 and 3 of the hymnal. It was a very special moment of our trip! As you exit the church you see the green manicured lawn, the rocky coastal shore, and the different hues of blue of the Atlantic Ocean and the Maine sky. I left feeling refreshed. This is a must do if in the area! I will come back every time I visit!

My fiancé and I stumbled upon this little chapel and we're glad we did. The stone work is very pretty and it was very peaceful. Views from the chapel were lovely too.

Historic charm

Can't beat the ambience in this quaint chapel on the ocean! Visitng ministers present weekly services on Sunday mornings, followed by lemonade and cookie socials! Don't come in jeans, though! This is one place where everyone wears "Sunday best" clothes!

A little slice of heaven

This chapel is located in one of Maine's most scenic spots. I have been visiting Ocean Point since the early 70's and always make it a point to stop in the Chapel to pray and meditate.

Wilson's Chapel
Jul 2017 • Solo
Wilson's Chapel is right on the water at ocean point in East Boothbay. All built of rock, the inside has beautiful wooden pews, and amazing stained glass windows. How many weddings have taken place there. It is a must-see if you ever go to East Boothbay.

This small chapel overlooking Ocean Point has worship services during the summer, but is not generally open to the public otherwise.

This is a seasonal chapel with guest ministers that serves the Ocean Point area. It has served as a venue for weddings and is also open during the week for meditation and prayer.
