Scenic mountain lake with clean clear water suitable for boating, kayaking, or swimming (in warmer months). Free access from public boat ramp at the south end off of route 52 (Mountain Road). Be aware that it can become quite windy with little warning even on clear days. Great places to beach and picnic.

The beach area is decent but no sand. The bottom is soft and muddy so you don't have to worry about walking on loose rocks. Not my first choice in beaches but a good area for beginner swimmers. Beautiful mountain views and wildlife.

I could not have enjoyed the lake more. Perfect clear and clean water, cool and refreshing but not cold. Loved swimming from the cabin dock and taking boats out in the cove. Almost nobody around to bother us, just a few neighbors doing the same as us.

Great experience getting out before the sun was up. Peaceful quiet lake beside us and the loons. We also enjoyed watching several species of ducks and geese migrating in and out. The lake was crystal clear and we caught several large mouth bass, also managed one crappie. The scenery made the entire experience surreal.

This is a great lake for kayaking, and enjoying a few hours on the water. You're able to enjoy the natural beauty of the area. There are places you can pull up to and walk around, or stop to have a picnic. We also had great fun at "jumping rock," if you're ready to take the plunge. We rented our... More

I was there visiting in mid August. It was just the right time to enjoy floating on the Lake for a Camden evening concert. Additionally, check out the summer schedule for the Camden orchestra.

If you are in the area of Camden, Maine, take some time to rent a kayak and play on this beautiful lake. In July, it is hot in Maine, and the lake is very pleasant. Swim off the giant rocks, and enjoy the pebbly bottom while you take in the deep gorge and forested scenery. Maine Sport Outfitters ( south... More

Lake Megunticook is a quiet and peaceful gem of a small lake. No marinas or gas stations, just a laid back and beautiful place to fish or swim. Somewhat of a hideaway that is very close to picturesque Town of Camden, Maine.

We stayed at the Youngstown inn and walked from the parking lot...you can also drive, the hike approx 20-25 mins to this beautiful place. The blueberries were abundant at the top.. Just wonderful!
