Warmly welcomed aboard by Captain Sean and his first mate. Very comfortable on board…could move around, chat with fellow passengers.
Capt Sean was very informative about the area and he pointed out wildlife spotted along the way.
Sean is a highly accomplished skipper AND boat builder!
We highly recommend the Lazy Jack II to anyone who seeks a relaxed, comfortable time on the water.

Wife, teenage son, and I booked an afternoon sailing on the Lazy Jack II. We had beautiful weather and a steady wind to make it an exciting experience. Captain Gus and Andy were incredibly friendly and knowledgeable hosts who freely shared their wealth of local and maritime knowledge with us. They were also experts at operating the vessel and we felt very safe and secure at all times. When winds kicked up they altered course to ensure we avoided overly wavy conditions for us landlubbers. The schooner is really a work of art and getting to see and hear the sounds of the rigging and sails in action is quite an experience. We really can’t overstate how much we enjoyed the cruise and the crew. Highly recommend it.

We enjoyed a 2-hr sailing of Penobscot Bay from the charming town of Camden. It was $50 for adults and $40 for children under 12. We saw a group of seals bobbing around. In the cool weather, the 1:30 sailing is your best choice. Dress warm (coat, hat, even gloves) and bring your camera and binoculars.

Incredible sail around the bay and we even got to see Whales! Gus and Lizzie did a great job making everyone feel comfortable and explaining the history and sights of the area. This ended up being the highlight of our trip! Highly recommended!

What a wonderful experience! We'd initially booked a morning sail, but as we were the only two we ended up switiching to a mid afternoon trip, and the winds cooperated. After the obligatory (and comforting) safety points, delivered with some humor, we were off. Captain Sean and mate Andy were so friendly and accommodating, knowledgeable and experienced -- totally relaxed and carefree for the six of us passengers on an absolutely stellar sail on beautiful Penobscot Bay, bright blue cloudless sky and steady winds 15-20. As advertized, Phoebe, our Lab/Chesapeake Bay retriever mix, was welcomed onboard and a hit with the other sailors. Will we sail again on Lazy Jack II? Absolutely! Highly recommended!

Captain Gus and team are always the best. I had family in town and wanted to go out on a Schooner. So glad we chose the Lazy Jack. Everyone had a great time and Captain Gus answered everyone's questions and knows an amazing about not only the sights but the history of the area and so many of the boats that have sailed out of the Midcoast area. Highly recommend the Lazy Jack!

What could have been a great experience turned irritating :
Sean the {captain /owner} could have been more engaging and informative of the sights, islands ,nature ,the bay ,etc instead of remaining mostly quiet.
Andy ,the deckhand ,was the best part of the trip . He sang sea chanties ,played harmonica , answered questions about the islands ,ocean , birds etc

The absolute worse part of the trip was a passenger {a loud Texan with a bad mullet }playing his guitar for most of the trip and not letting others enjoy the peaceful sights and sounds of the wind ,ocean ,birds ,etc.
The captain {Sean} did not take control of the situation and ask him to play for 15 or 20 minutes ,but allowed him to keep playing as long as he wanted to.
Some of us wanted to jump overboard and swim to shore !

Drinking water was not provided so be sure bring your own

It was a perfect sailing weather day when I boarded the Lazy Jack II. The 2 hour ride was very enjoyable, the captain and crew worked hard to ensure a great sail. They shared info about sea life, ecology and about lobsters’ life cycle that I (a native Maine girl) did not know about !

Totally enjoyable afternoon with Captain Gus and 1st mate Mark. The Schooner Lazy Jack II is a beautiful piece of craftsmanship and delivered a sense of peace and solitude sailing over the North Atlantic listening to the waves and sails.
Book this trip, you won’t be disappointed.
Thanks Capt. Gus and Good Luck!

Highly recommend a cruise with Captain Gus and Mark. Boat is ship shape and these two are experts in sailing and entertaining the guests. To truly experience Camden you need to see it from the water and these guys are the best!
