Laird and Zach were just exceptional with the Schooner Surprise sailing adventure!! I absolutely loved it!! They taught us so much about sailing, and the area, and were so personable and fun!! This experience is unmissable and a great value if you are planning a trip to the coast of Maine! Laird and Zach were superb!!

Surprise, her skipper and crew were in fine fettle on 4 October. The schooner is comfortable and not crowded. The skipper and crew relate well to their guests. A good time was had by all!

My husband and I loved our sail on The Surprise. Our captain, Laird, knew so much about the history of the schooner, the seaside homes, and the notable sailboats on the bay. The experience was low key and peaceful without the annoying constant narrative of some tours. We felt safe, comfortable, and happy throughout the entire voyage. I highly recommend taking this schooner. I know I'll be back next year!

Surprise is a beautiful 100 year old schooner. The 3 person crew are friendly and knowledgeable about the boat’s history as well as the sights around Penobscot Bay. Surprise is a very comfortable size - small enough that you’re not jammed in among dozens of other passengers, but big enough to provide a safe and steady experienced trip for non-boaters. I’ve been on other Camden schooners and Surprise is easily the most enjoyable (and prettiest) one.

Thoroughly enjoyed our day sailing in Camden harbor. Especially loved to hear the amazing history of the boat itself and the surrounding area.

We thoroughly enjoyed our sail on the Surprise. Chose the boat because of its history, but the crew of Will and Corey really made the trip! Very personable, funny and loaded with interesting information about Camden and the islands. Strongly recommend!

We are visiting Camden the week
Of October 7th. Would it be too cold to go out in the water? We are a group of adults. What are you charges?

Thank you for the question. We had beautiful weather when we were in Camden. Of course, weather is fickle. I would definitely wear layers, but I think you would be fine. Great crew!

There were no dogs on our cruise, but I don’t know that they aren’t or are allowed. I imagine calling Schooner Surprise would be your best bet.

Is there drinking or a bar onboard?
Thank you!

There is not a bar, it's a smaller sail boat. You can bring your own beverage, but beware there aren't cup holders or anything to hold said beverage. My wife and I brought a bottle of wine, cork screw, and 2 cups with lids.

Yes... great experience. There's only one sail with the music and desert... Also, if you ask, you can help them set the sails and steer the boat for awhile

What is cancellation policy if bad weather

I was told by the owner a full refund or we could reschedule when the weather turned bad before our cruise. Lucky for us, we were able to go the next day. It was one of the highlights of our trip. I believe their cancelation policy is on their web site if you google it.

I think the only proper answer would come from the boat owner/operators, Ramiro and Nicole. Their ID on TripAdvisor is Ramiro_1918 , so you should ping them and ask. You could also call them at the number on their website, (207) 236-4687. Best of Luck.
