This site is located on a dirt road off Rt 11 between Brownville and Millinocket. The remains of the ovens are worth a trip and the store is a lot of fun for picking up North Woods souvenirs.

This was in the 1800s a village. All that’s left is the furnace and an unidentified stone dome structure.
It’s a wonderful place for children to run and play There are two roads for hiking ATV Or bikes. Also we saw two trails. We followed a roads that can easily be used to access to a boat ramp on the Red River.

This is a State Historic Site on the road to the Gulf Hagas Trail in Northern Maine.
It's right across the road from the check in station. You're required to use the check in station, even if you're visiting the state historical site. I'm not sure if they make you pay the day use fee.

There's a couple of brick buildings left of the massive ironworks site that was big in the late 1800s, early 1900s. There's some information boards to tell you what was going on & what you're seeing today. Somewhat interesting. Not a lot there to keep you occupied for longer than 20 minutes.

Not close to Bangor. I’m not sure why this says it is 1.7 miles from Bangor; it’s about a 50 minute drive. It is to the north.

The historical aspects are very interesting and educational. The camping there is amazing. Beautiful, peaceful, and private sites. Excellent prices. Gulf Hagas is an amazing place. Great fishing, hunting, and just site seeing.
