This little gem is hidden behind the new church - easy to miss. Parking spaces available at the new church. Peaceful and unobstructed place (at least on a working day when we were visiting).

Considered as the biggest Gothic wooden church in Europe. A must see for anyone interested in architecture, especially the traditional one. Wooden roof of an enormous surface. Interesting interior where you can feel the unique atmosphere.

If you would have to choose that one unique thing of Poland it might well be the wooden architecture of the country. Haczów church is the oldest, largest and best preserved wooden gothic church in Europe. Hard to believe it survived almost unchanged for over 600 years and the logs that build it are made of wood some 800 years old today. What more to add? Well deserved UNESCO title along with some 15 other wooden churches and orthodox tserkvas in Poland and Ukraine.

We enjoyed seeing this church and were impressed by the people who were cleaning the floors and steps inside. The interior is beautiful. We were the only people there on a Saturday afternoon. We should mention the nice ice cream shop across the street with a friendly owner who speaks English. It is a great place to relax.

We visited 10 UNESCO wooden churches in Poland and this one, the last one on our list, was the only one without lights inside and without a guide inside. It has security cameras of course, but it felt semi-abandoned and unloved. I hear it was confiscated by the state and then it was given back to the church. At any rate, considering the value of the amazing art inside (which tourists cannot see without some lights inside!) this is a shame of the Podkarpackie region of Poland not to take care of this amazing building with some more love. The neighboring Blizne is doing much better job at this,

It is very unique! You cannot image it was totally built with wood and lasted so many years, but still standing there! I took some pictures and friends were all impressed
