Chottanikkara Bhagavathy goddess very powerful deity.
We went and stayed nearby hotel temple plaza, walkable distance of 150metres distance. two temples ( one melshanti and another keelshanthi )
we need to sit and take the blessing of after 8,30 PM night pooja.
very religiously the pooja is carried out by the chief priest.
hotels nearby charge more if you are comfortable to reach and go back in the night by cab please plan better. as nearby hotels rooms are smaller and charge exorbitant.
After the pooja please collect the tirtham and kukukum.
This temple is near to cochin.
next to temple 3 hotels are there for breakfast and lurch.
sree devi hotel and ganesh bhavan for tiffan items.
men - please ware dhothi and you need to remove shirt while taking darshan of deity.

Lots of work has been done to improve the cleanliness and look of the temple. Steps to Kil Kavvil has be laid nicely.
Queue system is good, but you should put the timings as when the Nda will be opened or announce it often. Devotees with Children will benefit if they know when the queue will start moving.
Information centre can be provided for visitors to know much about the Chotanikara temple. Lots of different states people are coming. This time I guided some team as they were struggling to know the basic things, and they were all from Andhra.
Thanks to the management as they are doing continous improvements for the betterment of the devotees.

One of the most famous temples in Kerala, beautiful design and real calming feel to it. When we went, it was just prior to a prayer ceremony and close to closing time, so the temple was nearly empty. Had ample time to get a really good darshan. This temple is renowned for being a really powerful one and has apparently helped cure lots of mental ailments. Situated some way out of Kochi in Chottanikara, but totally worth the visit.

This is a twin-temple having a very vast area. The atmosphere here is serene and peaceful. Daily there are worships of Goddess Bhagavati.
Visited in the evening of 20th Feb 2020. Lots of people were there, but there was no rush as the area was big.
The Goddess here is believed to have divine power for curing mental patients.

Hi,
Beautiful temple. Its located near to Ernakulam, probably about 45mins-1 hour drive from MG Road depending on the time you leave.
The Goddess is so powerful and beautiful, one has to be there and fill her energy flowing through you. She has the power to cure from any unwanted negative energies which resides in you. Have faith and believe, the rest She will take care.
The place can be crowded during Sabrimala Ayyapan festive seasons Dec &Jan. Ample of place to move around within the temple, There is a queue to go into the centre of the shrine where Bhagavati Amman is, quite fast the queue moves, remember to take of your shirts when you enter the shrine area (for guys only). Possibly try to be at the temple at morning hours when its not so hot.
Overall a wonderful experience, and the feeling of joy of seeing Bhagavathy Amman.
A definite place to go when you are in Kochi.
Thanks

Chottanikkara Bhagavathy Amman Temple is located around 20 kms from Cochin, but it takes more than 45 minutes to reach, because of road terrain and traffic. We (with my family) reached the temple around 10.30 am on Wednesday-22.04.2015. We purposely selected Wednesday, to avoid big crowd – on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays good gathering of devotees will be there- this is in all amman temples in and around Tamilnadu/Kerala/Karnataka. As we expected, less crowd and we were able to have good dharshan. If you are able to visit at 5.00 am, I was told, you can have a peaceful dharshan.
Here, there is a dress code to visit this temple. All males are required to remove their shirts and vest- only bare body, but you can have dhoties or pants – no problem. But shorts are not allowed. Ladies come in sarees – traditional dress for any Indian woman visiting temples.
First we decided to visit main Chottanikkara Bhagavathy main deity sanctum. Before going there, we bought archana tickets at the entrance. Each ticket costs Rs.8.00 for single person, in it they write your name and birth star(nakashthram). We went straight to sanctum and had good darshan of Mother Goddess. There is a hundi before main sanctum, to drop our offerings in cash. Unique method here, before dropping the cash , you swipe the cash over your head thrice and then drop that cash in hundi here. The rationale behind this is, you are dropping all your worries to the feet of Mother Goddess. We also did this. Just at that time Goddess was draped in crimson (as Lakshmi).
At prakaram, we worshipped Mahavishnu,Lord Ganapathy, Lord Muruga and Lord Siva in various sannidhies. We bought sacred thread to be tied in the hands of children, to ward-off evil forces, which Mother Goddess will take care-off.
The we went to Keezhukkavu Baghavathy Amman temple, in the same premises, down the stairs. Those who are praying at Chottanikkara Baghavathy Amman MUST also pray at this Keezukavu amman, said to be the sister of Chottanikkara Amman. We bought arcahana tickets for this amman, each R.15.00.Here only all pray for their peace of mind, to ward-off evil forces ,etc. There is a Jack fruit tree, in which they punch a big nail to get ride off the evil forces’ effects. There is ONE unique way of our prayer offering – Vedi Vazipadu. It seems, in all Baghavathy Amman temple this ritual is carried on. If you pay Rs.10,with your name, they fire a cracker. This is also to escape from evil forces’ clutches. Sastha sannidhi is there also.
We spent around one hour in this temple and we had a soul-nourishing dharshan and heart-full prayer, for betterment of our family. Really A MUST VISIT TEMPLE in Kerala. We understand that this temple comes under Travancore Devaswam Board ( which manages Sabarimala also).

Hi I am planning to visit the temple on Tuesday 4th June and appreciate if someone could clarify the following :
Understand there are 3 different pooja for Saraswathy, Lakshimi and Durga. What would be the exact timing ? Are they the following found in temple website :
Pantheeradi Pooja Mon to Sun 07:45
Ucha Pooja Mon to Sun 12:00
Athazha Pooja Mon to Sun 19:30
Must a person attend all 3 poojas to get full blessings or is there a most preferred pooja. By the way, I am not keen in Guruthi pooja. I am travelling form overseas hence time is an essence for me. Thank you.
