Overview
More
Lazy Jack takes her lines from the traditional Gloucester fishing schooners of the 1850's and has had a colorful and notorious history as a fishing and passenger charter schooner. During the early years Lazy Jack sailed between the East Coast, Man O War Key and Cuba running guns, rum, cigars and bananas. Today Lazy Jack offers 2 hr. day sails or private charters from Pier 1 in Boothbay Harbor celebrating 66 years of continuous sailing and 10 years as Boothbay Harbors only historic working schooner. Lazy Jack is owner operated by Captain Joe Tassi and his son Michael.

Lazy Jack is right! Don't know if I over estimated what I expected but I could have fallen asleep at the pace. Kept watching the other schooner company (EW) sail past the outer islands at a clip pace while we just barely broke the water....More

It is hard to know how to respond to someone incapable of recognizing that the Schooner EW was motoring and not sailing and does so all the time and that is why the EW was able to in this instance to make it out to...More

I thoroughly enjoyed my two hour sail on Lazy Jack. The Captain and his son are friendly, knowledgeable and make the experience so fun. Took the 3 p.m. Plenty of sun and breeze. I would definitely go again. Highly recommend.

The Schooner Lazy Jack is large enough for comfort and small enough for an intimate sale. We went with friends and joined two other couples for a late afternoon sail. What I liked most was the relaxed atmosphere that was aimed at giving the best...More

My wife and I took the 1030am sailing....great to be 1st on the water. Captain and team were great, personable and very safe. If you're looking at the competition, I would say the biggest difference.... this is a smaller ship that gives you a personal...More

We chartered the boat for 2 hours and had so much fun! The Captain was easy going, knowledgeable about the area, professional and his son was obviously raised to behave the same way. They were both darlings and our trip was amazing!!

Captain Joe $ First Mate Michael provided an excellent, exhilarating, sail out of Boothbay Harbor. Safety, including proper use of life jackets & workings of the sails, well & easily explained. We sailed twice with the good captain, once on a sunny day & then...More

The trip started with the Captain/father/owner critizing us for throwing items below deck when it was his son who placed them below for us. He then said that if anyone wanted to buy the boat, he would sell it right away for a $145k cashiers...More

It requires time and effort to respond to occasional complaints so since there were two complaints issued from the same party on this particular cruise, it will take you all less time if you just read my response from the second complaint. And Paul, I...More

My husband and I enjoyed our first sailing experience together. We normally go on the 'narrated tours' but decided to do something different for a change. If you're looking for a relaxing boat ride around the harbor, this is a great choice!

From when you buy your ticket to when you board this is such a sweet boat and the work Joe has done on it is beyond amazing. The sail was 2 hours and it was lovely. Good stories and the water and weather were divine.
