Lazy Jack takes her lines from the traditional Gloucester fishing schooners...

Lazy Jack takes her lines from the traditional Gloucester fishing schooners of the 1850's and has had a colorful and notorious history as a fishing and passenger charter schooner. During the early years Lazy Jack sailed between the East Coast, Man O War Key and Cuba running guns, rum, cigars and bananas. Today Lazy Jack offers 2 hr. day sails or private charters from Pier 1 in Boothbay Harbor celebrating 66 years of continuous sailing and 10 years as Boothbay Harbors only historic working schooner. Lazy Jack is owner operated by Captain Joe Tassi and his son Michael.

From when you buy your ticket to when you board this is such a sweet boat and the work Joe has done on it is beyond amazing. The sail was 2 hours and it was lovely. Good stories and the water and weather were divine.

My husband and I spent the day in Booth bay and went on the Lazy Jack Schooner cruise, it was so relaxing and Captain Joe made us very comfortable , would go back on the schooner again.

Caution if you are expecting to see a true sunset during the sunset cruise. We left too early and came back too soon to see one. That said, Boothbay is beautiful and with that one exception I am sure you will still enjoy it. I just felt the name set an expectation that it didn't live up to. If the... More

Delightful sail in Booth Bay out into the Atlantic. Very relaxing 2-hour tour with a little narrative and good Q&A. Good value reassonably priced.

Beautiful 1947 Schooner mostly under sail, with no annoying commentary. Captain & first mate were friendly & helpful. The best way to spend 2 hours. We saw some porpoises & Osprey too!

This Jack is worse than lazy, he has no scruples. I just arrived in Maine and was not familiar with the geography. I mistakenly booked this schooner, the Lazy Jack 1 and arrived in Camden to find that the schooner in that harbor is called the Lazy Jack 2, and the two schooners are no longer related in ownership. The... More

Dear thanks for nothing. As you mentioned in your review we do have a written policy regarding refunds, that no-shows will not be refunded. On a scheduled 12:30 pm departure you called at 12:28 pm after the boat was already boarded and we were awaiting your arrival. You called my ticket agent and said that you were 1 1/2 hours... More

Beautiful sunset cruise. Capt'n Joe was engaging and shared many stories with us. This was our first time sailing (sisters from Virginia) and he made us instantly comfortable with his expertise at the wheel. He and his son Michael make this a very enjoyable experience. A must do if you're in Boothbay Harbor!

The weather was wonderful. The view was picture perfect. The Captain knows how to sail. He shared history, answered our questions and treated us like friends. My first time sailing and it was fantastic. Thank you, Cap'n Joe! And First Mate, Michael.

My 11 year wanted to go on a boat. After reading the Lazy Jack reviews, and the responses Captain Jack gave to rude, unintelligent, previous customers that provided the trip with a bad review, I had to go on the boat just to meet who could be responding with the intelligent snarky responses that were given. The trip was great,... More

I'm glad you enjoyed your sail and I am pleased that you felt safe. That's important! Everyone on board enjoyed sailing with your son. I didn't mind his questions at all. Thanks for your review. Captain Joe More
