Well worth the money. Great food and family hosting on Cabbage Island. It’s takes about an hour to get there but you learn about Boothbay on your way. Book early because it took us two tries to get tickets. I’ll go back next summer.

It was a wonderful day! The steamers, lobster, blueberry cake were all amazing! We really enjoyed ourselves. We had some troubles with the bugs which is outside anyone’s control. I would almost recommend wearing light pants and closed shoes to avoid bites. Additionally, boarding the...More

Coastal Maine in May (4 Replies)
So planning a trip out to Boothbay Harbor Memorial Day weekend. Any suggestions on things to do on the coast? We would love to do the Cabbage Island Clambakes, but I'm afraid its not open yet. Anything similar? Does anyone know if the Lobster places will be open yet? Any advice or suggestions would be helpful!

Looking on the sites for various lobster pounds/restaurants in Boothbay Harbor, they are opening Memorial Day weekend. It also looks like Cap'n Fish's boat tours will also be starting up that weekend.

Hi, I went on this 2 years ago with my best friend and my son (who was 8). It was a great experience, and we enjoyed it. BUT, it is definitely geared toward adults, and attracts adults and the grey haired set! My son was able to order a hot dog instead of lobster. The ferry ride is 45 minutes each way, and the trip is 4 hours. It is usually packed with people, I think 150-200 each trip, and the meal is served by ringing a bell, then everyone lines up and carries their tray back to a picnic...More
