Took a sunset sail (630-830pm) on a weekday evening on the Schooner Alert and what a beautiful experience, led by Bethany, Perry and their crew. BYOB and snacks, a sweatshirt, sunglasses and enjoy the ride and the company. If you're ambitious or hearty, you can help raise the sails.

This is the second time we have booked with Bethany and Perry and enjoyed the second time just as much as the first. The schooner is great and such a cool experience if you've never been on one (you even get to help raise the sails if you want). Bethany is so out-going and shares lots of information during the trip (Perry too, but he is pretty busy sailing the boat), but there is also time when it's quiet while the scenery can be appreciated in all its glory. There is also a quirky little ceremony when the sun sets. Make sure to dress (or bring) for the coolness on the water if you are on an evening cruise and bringing favorite beverages/snacks also helps to make this experience worthwhile.

Seriously if you’re anywhere within driving distance, go for a sail! We did the sunset cruise and it was breathtaking. We were only going to be in town for one evening so when we saw the weather was going to be bad we thought maybe they would cancel the sail. The radar must have scared the other passengers away because we got the boat all to ourselves … we may have felt 3 raindrops right before we set out but that was it. They kept a close eye on the radar in case we had to turn back, but the weather completely skipped us and we were rewarded with a kick ass sunset set, rainbow, and huge sundog. Don’t be scared of rain, they won’t sail if they don’t think it’s safe, just go!

We went a couple years ago with our family and it was one of the most memorable trips we have had. Great crew and sail. Planning another trip to Main and will be making sure we go again.

Highly recommend the 4 hour trip from Bailey Island through Casco Bay. We sailed out to Halfway Rock Lighthouse. It was a beautiful day out on the water. The hosts I think Perry and Bethany were their names were fantastic and made the trip educational and fun. Departs from near Cooks Lobster so you can have an excellent late lunch after the sail if you take the 10:30 departure.

My husband and I have been on many of these day-sail trips over the years, and this one was indeed a lovely ship, helmed by a very experienced, capable, and amiable couple who clearly love what they do.
A four hour sail on a gorgeous summer day, just the thing to instill calm and bring down the stress level...but this cruise was unlike any we've been on before, with their two children running around the ship disturbing people practically the whole cruise.(please note the 1 brave soul who gave them an *average* rev

Note:Great ship,extremely skilled sailors!
It began innocently enough, with their two adorable(absolutely) girls in their little life jackets up front. This quickly morphed into the older (5?) climbing up in the sails like they were monkey bars,at one point hanging over an elderly man's head precariously, with a weak admonition from Mom to "please be careful up there", as the passenger looked clearly worried and uncomfortable at the prospect of her jumping or falling on him. Her precocious and petulant behavior continued for most of the trip, including running around and around the deck to *tag* everyone, latch
drqg a poor teenaged boy around the ship, until he finally sat down and disengaged,to her annoyance. Then there's the baby. Under two, wandering about cutely and up to the bow, where she sort of hung at the very edge at the gap in the railing, while another poor passenger actually got up out of his seat and sat within grabbing reach of her for the better part of an hour. Clearly not the relaxing sail he had envisioned when boarding! Parents were both at the helm, seemingly unconcerned, but everyone else was,for sure.Look, I'm a parent of three, have been there, and truly give this couple a lot of credit for making a life for themselves doing what they love, and for bringing up their children in a wonderful environment.
The issue here is there was little to no acknowledgment by either of them as to the disruption the kids were causing. Please consider advertising that this cruise includes your little children, because that will save people who wanted and expected a somewhat peaceful four hour outing on a gorgeous day from spending that time being annoyed, stressed and aggravated;many people are going on a day sail to get away from this, not be held prisoner at sea with it for several hours.

I have to start with it is a beautiful boat and starting out with setting the sails was a lot of fun. We did the 2 hour trip so we didn't leave the inlet which was nice since we had several people that were worried about getting sick. On the downside is that I understand the owners are young but this is a business and having their two kids running around asking paying customers to move so they can get by is not good. My wife and I took a trip with friends and it was our first trip away from our 5 and 2 year old and we were welcomed with the same running around. The biggest issue is Perry and Bethany had no concern with their children bothering paying customers. So to summarize a great boat and fun sail but just be prepared for toddlers running around and asking you to move.

Dear Lynxcatpro, Thank you for your honest review of your experience with us on Bailey Island. We understand how valuable your free time is and thank you for choosing to sail with us. We would like extend our apologies for our seaming lack of concern with our children's interactions with our guests. We try and do our best to have a safe and enjoyable environment in all circumstances. We are all learning together how to give the best experience that each new day gives us. We take your advice to heart, more than you could know, and hope to find sustainable balance in our work and Family. We are glad you like ALERT. We do all the maintenance ourselves and it is a labor of love. We are so glad you enjoyed the sailing. We hope your own family is happy and well. Sincerely, Bethany and Perry

My husband & I chartered Tevake for an all day sail. Our captain Bethany was very knowledgeable about the area and shared many stories with us. It was like heaven spending the day on the water on Tevake. Comfortable, relaxing and would recommend it to everyone!

Beautiful experience. If not for the courage of the friendly crew the Tevake would be lost....oops, I mean, less fun. Great people.
