This is a must for an Outlander fan, Lallybroch. Considering it’s a derelict building it’s in pretty good condition on the outside. You are not allowed inside. You have to pay to visit, the guy on the gate is a lovely man and tells you were and what the scenes were filmed roundabout. If you wanted to stay in the area he has a B&Q at the end of the road which he said the programme has changed his and his families life which was nice. If you watch the series the woods you will recognise for scenes shot there.

For outlander fans, this is a five star. Well worth the five dollars per person. It is true that all you can do is walk around the exterior. You can peek in the windows and see that it’s very dilapidated. The man at the gate ( I wish I could remember his name) talked with us for a long time and shared the history Of the property andstories of the Outlander filming here. Enjoyed my visit to Lallybroch!

Paid £10 for 2 adults to walk 100m from the bit of gravel they have the cheek to call a car park, to return less than 2 minutes later. Nothing to see AT ALL, it is all boarded up, surrounding ground has never been cared for since Outlander film crew were there, worst rip-off I have ever seen. Do not waste your time travelling there - but if you do DO NOT pay to walk past the wee PAY HERE shed - you can be just as disappointed from 100m away (and save yourself a few quid). This is part of the lovely Hopetoun House estate - who should be ashamed they are charging a single penny for this. #robbed #fuming #rip-off

We visited on a fairly wet day and were a bit underwhelmed. Only takes 15 mins to see the outside and read the information. Felt it was a bit overpriced for what it is - interesting historic site but could be more like £2 per person since you don’t go in. However, would recommend a trip to South Queensferry afterwards, great cafes and gift shops.

If you are an Outlander fan, Midhope is a must. Walking up to the castle from the drive was surreal because it is identical (save some telephone wires) from what you see in the show. We were lucky enough to have the place all to ourselves for pictures and it was a perfect start to our Scotland vacation. It's true that the inside is not open to the public, but I wish a super fan would renovate it and turn it into a B&B! The woods surrounding the castle are beautiful as well. I would take a few minutes to head down to the stream just to the opposite side of the car park. Parking was a bit steep, but well worth it in my opinion. Beware that your kids (and probably your spouse) won't get it and will be nagging you to leave, but I absolutely loved it.

Not the easiest to find as not great signposting off the main road but ok once on the wee side road. We followed satnav though, so were fine.
Good sized car park.
The guy at the ticket office was lovely and told us where everything was and what it related to. First class service.
Let’s face it, there’s not much there to actually do but you have to go if you’re an Outlander fan! It’s worth it.
Lovely wee key keyring with an honesty box (£1).

As an Outlander fan I had to visit! The castle is in quite a remote location, so is not easily accessible by public transport. You will definitely need a car or taxi to visit. Still well worth a visit, though.

It was amazing to stand on the driveway of Lallybroch, we’re both huge fans so it was worth it for us. It’s only about 100’ from the car park and a good track on a gentle incline, perfectly accessible for anyone. The castle is a ruin and you can’t go inside but we still enjoyed our trip.
£10 for 2 tickets and parking, don’t follow the map link on the ticket, search google maps for midhope castle instead.

Visited Midhope Castle. Booked online at £9.50 for 2. No parking charge. Arrived after good sat nav directions. Castle is derilect inside but just as it looks in Outlander. Fairly stunning. Honesty box selling Lallybroch keys. Good touch.
