We have fished so many places and as in fishing there are good days and bad days. The day with Home Run Fishing Charters was one of the best fishing trips we've ever had no question. We caught several fish black fin tuna and yellow fin tuna. Our guides were awesome very energetic and eager to go to no ends to get a tuna. Thank you guys so much for such a great and memorable trip.

Myself and 5 other family members fished with Captain John and mate Anthony on October 5, 2019. I can't say enough good things about them! Our boat was the 42' Conch and it was awesome! The captain had us on fish within 10 minutes of getting to the first rig we fished. We limited out on yellow fin within two hours. After limiting, we deep dropped for swordfish and caught a 151 pounder and lost another one. Besides the fishing, the Lodge is also amazing, it is clean, comfortable and has everything you could want/need in a lodge setting. We highly recommend Home Run charters and will definitely fish with them again soon!

Booked a fishing with accommodations. Let me tell you this place was top notch! I was a bit hesitant to travel to the end of the world with my husband for a fishing trip but glad I did. We had the best time. Captain John put us right on the fish. Only thing I really had to do was reel in the tuna! He put up a fight but John & Zach talked us through what to do (when to reel, when to let the fish pull).
Accommodations: this isn’t your average fishing camp. If your looking for a luxuary, clean place to stay they deliver. Beautiful furniture, comfy beds, a kitchen with granite counter tops. You can’t go wrong with Homerun.

First off, I never leave a review for a charter/ guide based of how many fish we catch, they're a wild animal you can not control. However, I base my experience off of communication with the charter, quality of boat/ equipment, but mainly off how hard the guide works to get you on fish.
One thing I did not know that I wish I did, is that Home Run subs out some of their trips to part time guides. You may not be fishing with a full time fishing guide. Considering Home Run Charters is one of the higher priced inshore charters in Venice, I expected better quality tackle and a nicer boat than what we used/ fished out of.
We started out targeting bull reds but with the wind, it wasn't happening. By about 10:30AM our guide moved us back into the marsh, but unfortunately I feel like he kind of gave up on the day at that point. We spent the rest of the day fishing canals close to the marina. He brought us back to the dock around 1:30PM. (I was always under the impression a "full day trip was" 8 hours, we started at 7:30AM) We ended with a couple rat reds, a flounder, and a bunch of hardheads. I do want to mention though, that our guide was super friendly and very nice to spend the day with!
Having been to Venice before, this charter did not meet my expectations. There are a lot of great hardworking guides down here, do a little more research before booking your trip!
(To be clear, my review is only for Home Run's inshore fishing charters only)

Booked a 12 hour charter 7/21. They brought us back after 9 hours 45 mins. For no reason. Was told all tuna wahoo mahi and swords were 80 miles out. The other charter beside them. Came back with tuna sword and mahi. As did 2 other boats that came back after a 10 hour charter. I asked them how far they went out. Was told 30 miles. We went 27 miles out. Came back with red and mangrove snapper. None of us even touched a rod till almost noon. Captain either lied or didn’t know what he was doing. We didn’t go to Venice to catch snapper.
Also. The food was horrible. It was all microwaved. The lunch sandwich had 1 piece of deli meat. The eggs were dry. Microwaved potatoes.
There was so much potential with this trip to Venice. But HRC failed miserably. Use another fishing charter. Anyone but home run charters. They don’t care. Just about the $$$$. We spent $4300. And came away with bad memories and fish I can catch 2 miles out. Anywhere. Not the tuna mahi or swordfish that we were so looking forward to catching. And yes. There were lots of other charters catching them.
Also. Their other boat. Came back in. Same time as us. Same catch. Paid for 12 hours. Got less than 10.

We had recent trips scheduled for 1 day off shore fishing for tuna and second day 1/2 day for inshore for reds etc. Unfortunately the first day for tuna was cancelled(with plenty of notice) due to incoming weather. Homerun charters was very accomodating as to what we wanted to do (ie cancel rest of trip with refund or reschedule for another time). Being we had traveled from Pennsylvania and were already in the New Orleans area enjoying family time for the Thanksgiving Day Holiday, we opted to fish for a full day inshore and cancel the offshore part of our trip. Our guide, Ethan, was excellent in his knowledge of the waters in that area and went above and beyond in a very appealing and professional manner to make our day successful and enjoyable. Multiple locations were visited to locate sizable fish and the high point of the day was fishing in close proximity to the exact location of where the Mississippi River actually meets the Gulf of Mexico. Seeing the Tankers and container ships entering the River nearby, along with several dolphins close to our boat, was nice to view while catching multiple species of fish. I think that Ethan may have shown some partiality to my wife as I'm pretty sure he had a hand in her catching the "Big" fish of the trip , a 25 pound black drum. Housing facilities were very nice and clean and right next to where boat was located. We had a meal plan for one day and all food was excellent and plentiful with a good variety of items.

From the meals Evie provided to the all the Captains and first mates. ....Captain Brian, Captain John and first mates Zach and Matt, and the accommodations were oustanding! Would recommend to any who enjoy fishing and a good time. Would definitely return again!

Just finished my 3rd fishing experience with Home Run Charters in Venice and they have all been A+. Their captains are very experienced, their equipment is first rate, and the accommodations and meals are resort quality.
My first trip was for red snappers. Imagine stopping in the middle of the Gulf with no drilling platforms in sight. Our target was where a couple of pipelines crossed which causing some structure on the bottom. Our advanced technology bottom scanner showed lots of big fish. We were in 700’ of water. Our deckhand rigged up some big rods with massive weights and 3 baited circle hooks per rod. The instant that my bait hit bottom, I had multiple bites. From this depth, I would have been cranking for half an hour to get the fish to surface. But we had electric reels so all I had to do was to push the button and hang on for a couple of minutes. We had our red snapper limit in about 15 minutes. Our next stop was a secret location where a production platform had been removed but it left structure on the bottom which held lots of grouper. We were headed back to the dock by lunch time with about 700# of fish.
Home Run’s offshore boats are 36’ Yellowfin with 3-350 HP Yahama outboards each. They easily cruise at 50 mph so you can get to the fish fast.
My 2 subsequent trips were inshore for trout and redfish. Homerun has 2-24' Skeeters with a 300 hp Yahama outboard. We caught lotsa fish.
My two brothers and I are returning in November.

My husband had always wanted to go tuna fishing & through Internet research we landed on Venice. A random web search lead us to HomeRun Charters & we are so very glad it did! Capt. Woody & Reece had us limiting out in no time! Fishing here is quite different from fishing in Texas & they taught us tips/techniques on the go. Wanting to come back with the whole family! They braved the rains for us, too! All around great experience & we highly recommend them!

We will be in the area in mid January, what are chances of getting reds to cooperate that time of year.
