The national park service rangers here show their love of and knowledge of the area, the moment you come through the door. The exhibit area is small but very thoughtfully done and the Cajun (Acadian) history is something we should have learned in school and...More

If you want a quick, easy overview of Acadian history, is this small quiet town, then this is the place to go. Friendly, helpful Rangers on hand and a good selection of free 30-45 minute films about Acadia, enough to suit all tastes. No entry...More

This is a great little free National Parks museum on French Acadian "Cajun" history and culture. They have a choice of films: the 45 min one on Acadia is excellent and tells how the Cajun people arrived and there is one on the war of...More

They have a good choice of film for info on Louisiana. If you are lucky, you will have the night of music with musicians or the french meeting.

This is not your typical National Park, but don't be fooled by that. The rangers are kind and the inside museum is very informative and gives you a break from the heat. Check out one of the bayou boat tours and there are even camps/classes...More

We had visited this site before, but we made a return visit to get the Atchafalya National Heritage Area Passport Book stamp. There is an excellent video presentation regarding the historical relocation of Canadian French by the English in 1700's to Louisiana. Check it out.

This seems to double as a community centre, with the main part of it taken up with a permanent exhibit of Cajun history and culture. Very friendly NPS Rangers make the place a fun one to visit, and they organise trips on the bayou (although...More
