Always have a great time when we come here, wouldn't be a trip to Norn Iron if we didn't have a few games of Crazy golf either! Plenty to do and I've always found it to be pretty clean too!

Gifted people

Visited today with a group of severely disabled young people. The staff at bowling were so accommodating. I then asked could I rent a room for the young people to have lunch as they couldn’t eat in a public area due to one of them having a severe peanut allergy. Again staff were excellent and sorted us out. Unfortunately one of our young people had a seizure at reception and the manageress immediately got screens around us and implemented their first aid procedure
What an amazing group of people who couldn’t have done anymore to accommodate us. If only other venues were as accommodating to disabled young people. Linda duffy. 174 trust disability project

Terrible family experience
Jul 2021 • Family
We went ten pin bowling with our four children. They didn’t mention when booking they would stop the game automatically after half an hour which meant the kids didn’t get to finish one game. When I asked the staff they were completely uncaring and uninterested. No wonder the place wasn’t busy on a weekend. Incredibly bad value for half a game and facilities are run down.

Great fun
Aug 2020 • Family
The staff firstly were lovely. They chatted with the kids about ice skating lessons and the teams. When they inevitably fell they were quickly checked on.. so there was a great duty of care.

The large ice rink is unlike anything I’ve ever seen and was very impressive.

The only fault was.. as we came from Dublin we only had euros.. and there was only vending machines to buy the kids drinks. But they don’t take card only sterling so something I must remember for next time!!

Absolutely fantastic day playing golf - love the fact this is outside and we chose to play 36 holes... took about 2.5 hours and rained most of the time but we still had great craic and will definitely go back. Social distancing was accomplished and staff were friendly and helpful. Talking totems and squirting water cannons really amused everyone and I’d definitely highly recommend to anyone with children. Cost £39 for 5 of us for 36 holes but you could choose 18 holes.

Fun time

Had a ok time here bowling but felt service could have been better as we paid for two games but no upselling for the 1 hour slots whixh wiuld have been better value for us and no attempt at trying to make us feel welcome. Still we had fun of our own making laughing at how bad we are at bowling.

Shabby run down dive with rude staff
Jan 2020
I think it is about time another ice rink was built in Belfast to give people a choice. staff attitude is almost as bad as the shabby worn tired décor. disgrace the way we were spoken to in the café by one of the staff members - Obvious the staff don't care and it shows

Went here after Lisburn bowl turned us away despite having six lanes free as far we could see. Easy to book and good fun for us all. Stayed for dinner in area too. Hope to get back soon

Poor Customer Service
Jan 2020
Travelled up to Dundonald International Ice Bowl for a family day out before they all had top start back to school. My type1 daughter was using a snowman as a skating aid to try and find her feet (So to speak) when one of the young staff came over and took it of her, when I tried to explain that my daughter was type 1 diabetic he just shrugged and said she is over the 1.5m height and shouldn't have it and took it off her, I have to point out there were a lot of bigger people than my daughter using these aids and there were plenty of them not being used. When my wife tried to get his attention he just skated off. Was very disappointed with the whole experience, soured the weekend

Hi Pim247. Thank you for taking the time to leave us your review. We are sorry to hear that you were disappointment during your visit, however to ensure the safety of all customers on the ice, regardless of skating ability, we are required to follow the snowmen skating aid height restriction of between 1.20 metres and 1.5 metres (with skates) as recommended by the manufacturer. In the meantime, if you wish to discuss your visit further, we would ask you to contact a member of the management team on 028 9080 9129.

Average review for an average facility

Honestly this place has so much potential to be an amazing day out.  I have a lot to say so grab a cuppa.

Part 1 - Ice Rink

We, 3 adults and 3 children headed over to try out ice skating, first time for all. I've been here as a kid probably about 15/20 years ago and it literally hasn't changed, desperately needs a gut renovation. Anyway, we paid reception, got our boots and put stuff in locker and away we went.

We got the 3 kids snowmen to assist and one adult got one off a kid who was just finished.

After a couple of very enjoyable circuits, the snowmen got taken off the one adult and one taller child. As it happens these two were the least confident on the ice so that swiftly ended their fun. They went to get part of the belongings from a locker to try and close it again and couldn't.

Lockers:  So you pay £1 for a locker token and if you open it, need to pay another £1 AGAIN?! This absolutely crazy, most Council lockers (leisure centres) the money is refunded but these lockers truely stitch you up by making you pay each time you need access!

Snowman aid:  I don't understand why there are no skating aid options for taller kids and nervous adults, you certainly don't mention this before you take our money. You should really find some sort of resolution, as it's clearly noted in most of the reviews. Everyone wants the chance to give it a go!

The rink:  There are only 3 entrance /exit points all on the one side of the rink. On the same side, about a third of the rink is open with a ledge to hold on to, the rest is closed up with clear screens so those with low confidence have nothing to hold on to if they attempt to go round and no exit point to get out. This means that a lot of people gather at the open ledge and causes a build up of people who can't pass each other because they're holding on to the ledge. You should either open the entire rink with a ledge, or add a bar, to at least give people a chance to do the circuit.  Also, several times more skilled skaters went against rules and were winding very fast around the outside near the more nervous skaters, this puts the fear of god in you when you're just trying to balance and they brush past you so fast.

Staff:  Majority of staff are very pleasant and helpful, no complaints there at all, thank you.

Music:  Really fun disco atmosphere however music far too loud, can't even hear each other speaking and for one of our group, had to leave. Turn it down (quite) a few notches please.

Lack of viewing area:  Many years ago there was a seated viewing area which you've now filled with the clip and climb, which obviously looks fantastic and is a new money earner for you, but where to people sit to observe? They don't, basically.

Part 2 - Bowling

We booked the bowling in advance, had a short wait for our lane. The lady that i spoke to to book in advance was lovely, very helpful. When we came back for our time slot the other lady didn't even lift her eyes to say hello and was quite rude. We noticed other lanes had pictures of each player and our camera facility wasn't working so that was a shame as it would have been a fun novelty for the kids.

Other than that, the bowling side of things were very enjoyable, music a good volume and we really enjoyed the game.

General

Food / Drink / Facilities :  Plenty of vending machines about the place. Sinnamon cafe just ok, nothing extraordinary, probably wouldn't eat here. We actually left between skating and bowling to go to mcdonalds.

The amount of foot fall this place gets, you'd think they'd invest in updating everything in the building.  I peaked my head through to Indianna Land and the smell of urine hits you up the face, so glad we didn't plan to go there! Speaking of which, the toilets are old and dated, were dirty when i visited, only 3 cubicles in the ladies to facilitate what must be hundreds of customers at any one time.

It was extremely busy, they haven't updated the place in years and are using up every square foot of the place with no seated waiting areas.  They must be making some serious profits, a money making machine - put some of your Council budgets here as it is the only public Olympic sized rink, which you love to advertise!

Really, it just could be so much better all round!
