Picture the moss hanging on gnarled cypress trees as you travel into one of the wildest and most pristine river swamps in America. With the swamp tales of pirates and sightings of Big Foot in the back of your mind, you may be just a little bit nervous at first, but after your first boat ride you'll want to go back again and again! You'll be overcome by the primitive beauty of the cypress trees rising from the water...the sweet smell of wild azaleas in the air....

Wonderful tour

Capt Hunter gave a fantastic tour. We learned a lot and the kids loved everything we got to see. Highly recommend.

Our group of 10 on a girls getaway weekend LOVED our Honey Island Swamp Tour. After two well-below-average days in New Orleans (30 degrees!?), the temps hit 60 and we headed for the water. The people at Dr. Wagner's were flexible with our reservation - we were supposed to go the day before but were nervous about the cold -... More

We had a great time on our tour today. Dress warm, it gets cold with the boat moving fast through the bayou. The alligators are not active in cooler weather but we seen wild boar, raccoons, red shouldered hawks, snakes, spiders, and more. Well worth the money and they picked us up at our hotel in New Orleans.

We took a tour on New Year's Eve and enjoyed our time traveling through the swamp - a definite change of pace from New Orleans. Our tour guide was very knowledgable and kept things entertaining even though we didn't get to see many animals other than a few birds and a wild boar. Tour was a substantial 2 hours long... More

Our tour guide was amazing he knew a lot about the history of the swamp and the swamp routes. He explained about the ecological system of the swamp and stop to ensure that we saw some of the different trees and animals that lived in the swamp habitat. We are able to see a baby alligator, diamondback water snakes, oak... More

It was a great tour and very interesting, our guide was very knowledgeable and funny. The only downside was that the day we went was cold and overcast so we didn't see any animals besides two different types of birds which was rather disappointing as friends who went on a tour a day earlier saw a lot of animals. It... More

It's certainly a bang for your buck, $23 for a near 2 hour tour, but overall I was left feeling like my day would have been better spent with another activity. Pristine swamp land this is not. If you are ok with a long boat ride past the back yards of swamp mansions then you are in business. If you... More

I found out about this tour by chance from my partner. I had been searching for good swamp tours under "New Orleans" but this tour shows up under "Slidell". Well, I'm glad we found it because it was fantastic. We were picked up at our hotel in a van (the cost of RT transportation is in addition to the cost... More

Had a great time going on a swamp tour with Captain Hunter. He was friendly, funny, and knowledgeable. Because of the cloudy weather, we were unable to see any alligators -- they apparently come out when it gets sunny. We did get to see turtles and birds, though. The swamp is an eerie but beautiful place!

This swamp tour was the icing on the cake for me and my 8-year-old nephew's after Thanksgiving trip. He was excited to see the gang of turtles, birds, snakes, alligators, raccoons and nutria rats that we encountered on the tour. The tour guide was extremely knowledgeable about the swamp environment and the animals that call it home. He was also... More
