Picture the moss hanging on gnarled cypress trees as you travel into one of the wildest and most pristine river swamps in America. With the swamp tales of pirates and sightings of Big Foot in the back of your mind, you may be just a little bit nervous at first, but after your first boat ride you'll want to go back again and again! You'll be overcome by the primitive beauty of the cypress trees rising from the water...the sweet smell of wild azaleas in the air....

This tour was recommended by a local science teacher who takes students out on field trips occasionally. She was so right! It was entertaining with lots of funny moments and also informative, talking about the region and wildlife in terminology everyone can understand. We saw everything -- turtles, snakes, gators, raccoons, wildboar, nice homes and old Cajun shacks, trees galore... More

An opportunity to get down in the swamp and see it up close. Not much wildlife, but that might be the time of year. Mark, the guide, was very informative about seasonal water levels, plants, animals and history of the area.

The tour guide is Captain Bill. His family was living in the swamp by fishing and hunting. He is very knowledgeable and could find lots of wild animals as alligators, wild birds, turtles and wild pigs and feed them with marshmallows to let us took photos very close and easily. It was a very good experience to explore wild life... More

I was very nervous about going on the swamp tour as I am terrified of snakes so I was either facing a fear or going through the whole tour with my eyes covered, this was my husbands bucket list tour. Have to say the powers to be were on my side as we didn't see one snake....Captain Hunter told us... More

The tour of the swamp was fantastic! We rode in a covered boat with Charlie as our guide. He said he grew up in the swamp, and his knowledge of the swamp confirmed that. He provided great narration as we went along. We saw snakes in the trees (well, I didn't, thankfully, but others did), turtles, baby alligators about 2-3... More

Senior couple. We drove 60 miles to take this tour. Tour guide was friendly, courteous, and knowledgeable. We say alligators, snakes, and wild pigs. Just a fantastic journey on the West Pearl river.

Took shuttle in from New Orleans, driver gave great info on surroundings and about devastation of Hurrican Katrina. Swamp tour was so informative, saw some gators and other wildlife. Captain Hunter did excellent job of sharing his knowledge. Friendly, helpful staff.

Best swamp tour in New Orleans. Have been on it ten or more times. Highlight of my many visits to NOLA. Hotel pickup which is a great convenience. Highly recommend .

It conjures thoughts of Dueling Banjos - queue Deliverance... Our guide Charlie was excellent, having grown up in the area he new every bayou. Although this time of year the wildlife are all in hiding we still saw a couple of gators, turtles and snakes. Charlie's knowledge of the area was exceptional and it is a highly recommended tour to... More

I've been on Swamp Tours before. Had some friends down from the north and they wanted to do a Swamp Tour. Found Dr. Wagner's Honey Island Tour on line and hadn't done this one before. We were a group of 7 people, 5 adults and 2 children. The price was right and we made reservations for a private group tour.... More
