Beautiful!
Apr 2021
We are Protestants but enjoy seeing the beauty of Catholic Cathedrals, especially the old ones. This one is worth the visit. Don't miss it if you visit St. Martinville, LA.

Great for Cajun History
Nov 2019
Visit this famous Cajun landmark. Some tombs and burials on the outside of the Church. See the inside to help understand the way the people of the area lived.

An Acadian house of worship
Dec 2018 • Couples
We had a wonderful tour of the church given by the gentleman from the Cultural Heritage Center. He told the story of this historic church along with interesting anecdotes from days gone by.
Well worth visiting.

Historic cajun church
Sep 2018 • Family
As others have mentioned this is an active parish so be respectful during your visit. This is also a historic cajun church with much to offer in architecture and history. A statue of Evangeline, the heroine of Longfellow's epic, outside by the old cemetery. I imagined Gabriel sitting in the congregation before just missing the arrival of his betrothed Evangeline down the Bayou Teche.

Historical Church
Aug 2018 • Couples
St. Martinville is the center of Acadian history. The church is beautiful and the people at Mass even more so. A very welcoming community. The history is so very important to me because of my connection with the Acadians through my great grandfather and his descendants.

Home Town Church
May 2018
This is one of the oldest church in LA in my home town of St.Martinville. I am was down there May 2018 for a vist with my family. This historical site is beautiful and well maintained through the year. Christmas time, the yard is like a post card from Christ. this little town has many historical sites and it is worth the visit anytime during the year.

A beautiful church and welcoming congregation
Jul 2018 • Family
Attended mass here while we were on vacation. The church is absolutely beautiful with gorgeous stained glass windows and amazing painted stations of the cross that I believe are from France. The Sunday 5pm mass was well attended and we felt very welcomed there. There is a lovely statue of Evangeline on the side of the church. Since we were there so late in the day, the surrounding shops appeared to be closed.

I’m in awe!
Jun 2018 • Family
This majestic structure exudes religious freedom and rich history. The hard-working, charitable and loving congregation and pastor makes for a truly inviting spiritual experience. The grand columns, artwork and stained-glass make this church a grand gem, sitting as the centerpiece of such a quant peaceful town.

An Acadiana "must do"
Jan 2018 • Friends
I have been to this church hundreds of times, but yesterday I took someone there to show them around. It was a different manner of looking at the church. The person I was with is not Catholic so I was able to explain some of the things inside the church.

If you are Catholic this Church is a must see. Nothing more needs to be said.

If you are not Catholic you can go here and enjoy the historical significance of a wonder place of worship.
