Dec 2016 • Friends
Some friends and I stayed at this farm and pony trekked 24 years ago. It was a magical experience, especially for a gaggle of 13 year-old girls. Will never forget our time there, and was sorry to hear if their closing.

Fun day out
Aug 2015 • Couples
My husband and I enjoyed a half day riding in a group of about 10. My husband is disabled and is currently wearing a boot on his leg. The stables were more than accommodating and allowed him to ride. Horses were chosen on what experience you had. I enjoyed two gallops as my horse liked to go fast while my husband was on a slower horse that liked to follow. The guide was easy to talk to and it was nice way to explore the outdoors. Would recommend this stables to experienced and learners

Ride of a lifetime!
Sep 2015
Arrived at the yard, wow what stunning views of the hills and mountains. It's a working farm with sheep dogs milling around, hundreds of goats (they milk them) and very friendly staff. I was on an organised riding weekend which promised fantastic views and a good place to start for a rusty rider (not myself). Went into the barn and saw some gorgeous horses and ponies of different breeds, colours and sizes all waiting patiently with hay for them to be allocated to us. Vicky the yard owner and her staff asked us about our experience and what we'd like in a horse and those that had been before could say who they wanted within reason. I was given a lovely bay mare about 15hh called Rose. All the horses without exception stood rock steady at the mounting step (wasn't terribly big) while the staff 'boosted you on' if you needed it and the Welsh humour came out along with the gorgeous accent! Once we were all safely mounted off we went out of through the back of the farm. I had been told as we got there that we'd be going up the mountain at the back of the farm, I thought we'd zigzag gradually, I got that wrong it was very steep, and we went virtually straight up! Exhilarating is one way to describe it. The horses had stamina to die for, were sure footed and looked after their rider. You really have to trust them because believe me they know their job better than we ever will, even the younger ones who were just coming to the end of their first season. Once at the top the views were astounding, sheep everywhere and some wild ponies too. Lots of walkers but plenty of space for everyone. Lots of trotting and cantering, short and long bursts. Undulating terrain but again the horses sorted it out for you. No question was too much for the guides who were helpful and cheerful and liked a laugh. First half of the ride took us along one of the first roads (cart track) in Wales to the pub where we tied the horses up to nibble on the grass. We had a drink and there was time for a toastie. Got back on our horses with the aid of a strategically placed grass bank and the staff 'boost'! Rode up into a forest walking, trotting and cantering though the trees along the pathways more amazing scenery, then down into a river where we got splashed and the horses drank. A little bit of road work but again the horses knew their job and were trustworthy. Along bridal paths and back to the yard where we untacked, sponged down and said goodbye to these most trusty steeds and most helpful entertaining staff. There are rides of differing lengths and for different abilities so give them a ring you will not regret it!!

This place is amazing ! Had a brilliant ride yesterday ! It was lovely to be back in Wales again and seeing the beautiful landscape. I felt very safe with the staff, the staff are amazing and very friendly ! I would recommend anyone this place. I'm looking forward to going to Austria soon! So many opportunities and different things to do with Hoofin-around, like beach rides, going aboard etc! The horses are lovely as well. They provided a demonstration for beginner riders which was well explained and demonstrated. (Not that this was a problem for me :) ) ride here it's amazing !!!
There was plenty of chances to canter, the cantering was amazing and well spaced out from the other group. I will defiantly be retuning to this place!

AMAZING BIRTHDAY TREAT

What a brilliant morning on board the trusty DOLLY, with my sister in law on FLOSS, accompanied by the lovely ladies that make up the Trevelog Trek.
We were blown away by the care that was shown to ensure we were comfortable and confident. The scenery was beautiful, the weather was fabulous and all contributed to an unforgettable 2 hours.

Trekking for riders
Sep 2015 • Friends
My third visit this year, and I went with fellow riders. Never dissapointed - the riding, horses, scenery and guides are always fabulous. This is a hidden gem in Wales. I was in two minds whether I wanted to share how great this place is but it is important to do so to ensure it stays open (as soo many trekking centres have closed) and this is one of the best I have ever been to.

Horse riding

We had an excellent time doing a half day ride. We were a group of 7, with experience ranging from none to some!
Those who wanted to were able to canter, the rest of us walked and trotted. A great stable and friendly staff

Just incredible!!!

Came here as a complete novice and scared of everything, and was given a great easy-to-understand instruction on what to do. I had Merlin. Initially I was worried because I was probably the shortest and he was probably the second tallest horse. However, he was solid as a rock and a very safe pair of hands for me. All the horses were very stable though! There were only a few of us and 3 staff to make it really safe; and I always felt looked after and under control.

Having only sat on a horse twice I was going in at the deep end here; but it was one of the best experiences I've ever had. Probably THE best. Learning to ride a horse and control this massive beautiful animal was amazing just in itself; I even managed a "rising trot"... but with a backdrop of the most amazing mountains and hills around me? Incredible. I've never been so high up and seen views like that.

This is clearly the start of it for me now with horse riding (I never got it before) but I don't think there's a place that boasts this kind of view; so I'll be spoiled forever now. I will definitely come back here, even though it's 1.5 hours away from home because of the views. That two hour experience for me was priceless; but with a cost of £30 it was the bargain of the century. Amazing!
