The Monastery or “Igreja matriz de Bravães”, is located right next to the National Road 203 who is connecting the two villages “Ponte da Barca” and “Ponte de Lima”. Do not expect a hugh monasterie but some smaler, anyhow you can see this as one of the nicest exemples of the “Romanesque Temples who are still existing in Portugal. The church is build on the foundations of an medieval monastery, the actual church is dating from the end of the XII century initial of the XIII century, which made that the age is about 800 years. You have enough space to park the car and even have a pic-nic at the location no problem at all. When you visit the church do not think as we did when the side entrance is closed that you cannot enter, just turn the hand grip and it will open the door, it is a bit dark on the inside but you will be able to take pictures of a wonderful location who is need to visit. The church or monastery is classified as National Monument from 1910.
