Was so impressed with the renovation of downtown Natchitoches. The staff in each store was kind & hospitable and exemplified southern hospitality at its finest. Our favorite was the hardware store. We spent an hour there enjoying the selection of kitchen gadgets. Delighted that the...More

Shopping was boring though. Not many places are open on a Monday. Street parking available. Some restaurants were open but not many. Off season?

The historic shopping area is not very big and we were done within a couple of hours. They advertise "33 blocks" but the actual storefront area is three blocks at best, with the rest being the surrounding neighborhoods with historic homes and such. The storefront...More

We arrived at the historic district for shopping and sightseeing at 9:45 on a Tuesday morning. I was surprised to find the businesses did not open until 10. The tourism office was open, so we stopped there, expecting to find facilities for visitors and possibly...More

The flowers and park were amazing. Walking along the river was peaceful and beautiful. Downtown area is nice with lots of places to shop. Especially enjoyed the old hardware store.

Front Street on the Cane River in Natchitoches is very nice and relaxing. Parking was sufficient and the tulips were in bloom

We enjoyed shopping. The street is very walkable. The view of the river is beautiful as were the tulips that were set out.

Beautiful area and fun shops! It’s the highlight of our visits. Bathhouse Soapery is my personal favorite, but Louisiana Purchase is fun too. Just hit the whole strip. It’s worth the time.

On Front Street, this is a historic row of stores and boutiques with quality merchandise, some of it uniquely connected to times gone by. The hardware store is a treasure trove of anything from well made toys to natural cosmetics, musical instruments, distinctive table ware,...More

Front street is a great place to walk around & there are several overpriced shops. Do people really buy stuff in these ridiculous places. We don’t - just snacks & ice cream. We did buy a bath scrub at the soap place & it’s great...More

All the ones we visited closed at 5:00. After that Front Street is pretty slow -- only restaurants open. But it's a great time to enjoy a walk along the river. Beautiful.

Restaurants are open. Such as for brunch. I recommend Mama's. Some of the shops open after lunch time.
