Quite difficult to find but well worth the effort. We waited at the base of the stairs to 'Mr Charlie' for the guide to arrive for the 2pm tour. Virgil was extremely knowledgeable, eloquent and interesting. As well as viewing the working parts of the rig we saw the accommodation decks which are now used for trainees who learn the... More

If you are interested in how an offshore oil rig works or what it is like on one then this is the tour for you. We arrived 15 minutes early for the 10am tour of 'Mr Charlie' the offshore oil rig (we didn't make any prior bookings as being on a road trip we weren't sure exactly what day we... More

The tour was very informative and fun. Our guide, Randy, was forthcoming with details, open to questions and full of entertaining facts and anecdotes. It's good to know that the place only does two tours per day. One at 10 am and another at 2 pm. Quite recommended if you've ever wondered how an oil rig functions.

We loved having the opportunity to tour since we've never been on one. We took our 10 y/o son and he enjoyed it. My husband really enjoyed the tour too. I would not recommend for young children...some were one our tour and they had no interest. Guide gave lots of info and answered all our questions! If in the area,... More

Supposed to start at 2pm. Started at 2:15pm after the boss had to call the guide. Charged us $6 and not $5. And visit got short cos other visitors was too hot. Some interesting information but mainly if you do want to hear about what the "guide" has done, or the filming which has occurred upon the rig, sure, do... More

We went there in April 2016 and were the only two guests for an absolutely interesting tour of around one hour. The very friendly guide was a man who knew what he was talking of, a professional from oil drilling business. A great experience!

My 11 year old son and I took a tour of Mr. Charlie today and enjoyed the experience very much. Mr. Randy Faulkner (tour guide) was very talkative and informative, a true pleasure to talk to. He seemed to be very knowledgeable of oil rigs and all apparatuses on them. If you are interested in seeing and learning about working... More

Nice tour with Randy of something we knew very little about. Learned a lot. Quite technical in some bits but also interesting about the river, dredging, etc.

DO NOT tour this facility if you want to learn anything about the industry, exploration, or drilling. If you do want to hear about what the "guide" has done, or the filming which has occurred upon the rig, sure, do this tour. IF you do want to LEARN any FACTS, go to Galveston and see the Ocean Star Offshore Drilling... More

It was clear Randy knew his way around this oil rig and could describe how things work. As a person who knows nothing about an oil rig, it was sometimes difficult to understand the answers - yet Randy kept try and answered every question we asked. A bargain for $5
