A great cultural asset to Southwest Louisiana
Jul 2020
This historic building offers three floors of galleries, free and open to the public. The ground floor gallery showcases local artists, the second floor galleries focus on rotating regional arts and humanities exhibits, and the third floor offers national touring shows of merit. The most wonderful thing is that this experience is free for the public both citizens of the area and visitors to Southwest Louisiana. Feed the soul at this wonderful asset to the community, now with extended hours and with safe visiting protocols in place.

Cultural experience

I always enjoy visiting to view the different exhibits they have displayed. I went to the National Geographic photography exhibit which was very good. Have not yet gone to the World War II exhibit.

Art Exhibition
Apr 2018
This is a beautiful old building. I have gone a couple of times to see the different artists that have art work. I enjoy looking at what is on display.

Great City-sponsored Arts venue!
Feb 2019 • Couples
The three floors of galleries showcase national and regional arts and humanities exhibitions with a strong visual arts component. Current exhibitions feature ceramics with Japanese and Asian ceramics on the third floor and and exhibition of the work of regional university students on the ground floor. Great space to view art and good variety of shows based on what we've seen. Plus it's free for viewing!

A Place to Enjoy and Learn New Things
Mar 2017
This place is like a museum, only it changes from one theme to another. When you sign in be sure to sign up for the bulletin. You will receive notice when the theme changes and what it will change to. Sometimes they have a speaker to teach and answer any questions you may have. My grand daughters and I have enjoyed the different themes. Once they had Da Vinci's inventions and another time they had King Tuts Treasures.

Three free exhibits in a beautiful building
Mar 2017 • Friends
First floor had two local artists with very different styles and subjects. On the second floor the Rembrandt etchings are so small and detailed that magnifying glass is provided. He must have had exceptional eyesight to draw such small detailed etchings! Third floor was my favorite with National Geographic photos. Unusual and beautiful places.

Etchings of Rembrandt
Jan 2017 • Friends
I have been to many of the art exhibits at the historic city hall. Some are very good and others not so. The event is free and the exhibits are well done but the this one was not my favorite. The etchings were so small that they had to provide a basket of magnifying glasses for use. Many of the etchings were very similar and the black and white was boring after looking at a few. I highly recommend this cultural event but be aware that some of the art exhibits are much better than others.

A surprising treat!
Dec 2016 • Couples
The exhibitions at this site are varied and exceptionally well thought out. We visited their Asian Kites exhibit. It was beautifully set up and only one of dozens of exhibitions available year-round. It's also free for the public, with opening receptions for each of the exhibitions. We were sorry to have missed the kite making and kite flying parts of the exhibition--those would have been great as well!

Great Getaway
Sep 2015 • Friends
My family visited the arts and cultural center on a Saturday morning. The 50 years of Life Magazine were on display. It was like stepping back into time to read about the photographs that made this magazine a literary icon in American culture. The photographers traveled the world to capture some of the greatest photographs. The cultural center staff were very friendly and helpful.

What a Treat!!!
Apr 2016
My husband and visited the Samara exhibited here yesterday. What a treat since we visited the actual home in West Lafayette, Indiana last week. The exhibit here was wonderful, the Historic City Hall is beautiful and the staff was beyond friendly and helpful. This was my first visit to one of the exhibits here, but it won't be my last. I signed for their mailing list to make certain I don't miss other exhibits held here.
There were 3 exhibits at the time which were all beautifully displayed
