I can't describe how amazing this tour was. Our guide, Kim, went above and beyond any tour we have previously done anywhere. His knowledge and southern charm far exceeded anything we could have expected. We can't recommend this tour highly enough. We felt this tour was above and beyond as it was such a busy day with boats everywhere, however... More

Experience of a lifetime, I was going to say, but than noticed that one of the previous reviewers just said this. Bit this is what it was. Coerte and his son Cameron went out and beyond to accommodate me, which was not easy as I was a single traveler, did not have a car (so they had to pick me... More

My wife and I had booked a private early morning tour of the swamp so that we could see the sunrise and it certainly didn't disappoint, but more on this in a minute. If you are thinking of booking a swamp tour through The Atchafalaya Experience I think it's very important to understand what you are buying here. Make no... More

We were very lucky, and got to see an amazing number of different species - ibises, egrets, an unbelievable number of alligators, herons, storks flying overhead, roseate spoonbills (beautiful!), huge carp FLYING out of the water... The Atchafalaya basin is a stunning, unique, and wild place. Our guide, Kim, has been taking people there for more than twenty years. He... More

Our guide was Kim for the trip. He was extremely informative and knew his way around Atchafalaya Basin with great ease. Kim informed us of the different plant life as well as the many different types of birds. The basin is just beyond explaining how beautiful it is. I would definitely recommend the Atchafalaya Experience as guides for a swamp... More

We really enjoyed this swamp tour. The company is family run, so your guide might be a member of any of the 3 generations. While the water was too high to view much wildlife--and a baby alligator wasn't seen--the guides work hard to be informative about the plant and animal life, and the scenery is beautiful. We would recommend Atchafalaya... More

Impressed by the "Petit Fûté travel guide" and the ratings of Trip Advisor, on Monday 2nd - a rainy day - we went without fear to the "Bois des Chenes" address in Lafayette. We met Coerte in person, a very nice and alert person, and we agreed upon a visit in French on Thursday 5th, 2016. Mind : my wife... More

weather is a big factor, high water and rain keep the birds and animals in hiding---Lake Martin is a controlled lake one mile long and a half mile wide--the Atchafalaya is 150 miles long and 50 miles across---my visit to the doctor was not planned--sorry I could not be there---My 34 year old grandson is as qualified as anyone, as... My sister and I recently reserved a trip for two to leave from the welcome center and cruise the Atchafalaya basin. The directions of where and when to meet were very distinct and easy to follow. Our guide, Kim, was very informative. He made the trip throughly enjoyable, highlighting all the local plants and animals. I would definitely book this... More
